Liminal — Series of Haikus pt. II

Gas station bathroom,
Cross-legged on the counter,
You cried over Nick

Cat in your backpack,
My street; walked from Evergreen,
Whole block to ourselves

Sticky-note lovebirds,
'Your heart's the lock; I'm the key'
Sat on hallway floor

Skatepark at sunrise,
Heart beating before the drop,
Said, "Dude, you got this"

Taped up art posters,
Tried to help you straighten them,
Polaroids of us

Car park; inky hands,
Banana on my ankle,
Twenty bucks well spent

Friends' gig; underground,
Sampled Spongebob dialogue,
Microphone feedback

Make-shift, red apple,
By the church, under street light,
Red eyes, cheeky grins

Neighbourhood cafe,
Bikes out front; heavy backpacks,
Soaked socks; bubblegum

Bleach in hair; fan on,
Newspaper-covered kitchen,
You made my roots light.
