Hiii Erica!! Sorry it’s taken me a bit to get to this I’ve been sooo busy (I’m on 17 hours of ot LMAOO) so I’ll hop right into my review of this!

So as always, you just excel at these short and beautiful romantic pieces. All of the ones I’ve read where you’re doing something of the sort you just seem so in your element. However, this is the first one where I do actually have a couple notes.

So let me preface this by saying the descriptions in this poem are not the problem in the slightest, and the lines jumping from one thing directly into another describing the prior thing remind me a lot of what I did in “Cattails”.

I think where this poem loses me tho, is that it stumbles into one of the biggest pitfalls that I always see newer poets falling into: it over explains itself.

A big thing I often talk about when I’m rambling on about poetry, is that the very act of writing a poem about something shows that you have some form of opinion on it. So very rarely should you ever (if at all) have to say “I like” or “I hate” something.

This poem, in my honest opinion, would be just as perfect as some of your other romantic poems if you simply went through and omitted all the “I like the way” or things of that nature. Rereading it again, you could probably retain one of them and have it work even better than removing them all.

Anyways, that’s my only issue with this poem. Otherwise, absolutely lovely! I love the descriptions and the flow of ideas my literal only gripe is the slight over explanation
