[tawdry kiln]

I go through a bottle of perfume a day,
my scent's still lingering, it won't fade.
it won't be long now, I will be gone.
Because I don't belong here.
it punches through every song,
it makes me feel interlocked
with death itself. I can never feel relief
all my life I've been deceived—
believing that peace will guide me through the dead of night.
the scent lingers—drifting like a bird,
it lingers like every unspoken word.
I am like a bird, singing a tune,
in a dark oak forest and—
the only one who hears me is the moon.
i long for somebody to—understand
Even if they don't hold my hand.
Eyes twitch, I shrug the pain off of me
Thinking it'd make me more of a man
I fall short among my peers
I've wasted all of these years for what?
Failure? laziness? I'm nothing
In this cruel world that doesn't care
And will stomp on you like an ant
I can't afford flying through raging winds
I can't afford singing songs—
wasting my breath, wasting my time
Because my scent will linger in my mind.

I can really feel the weight in every line; the loneliness, the frustration, the way you’re trying to make sense of it all. The perfume imagery is perfect; it lingers in the mind just like the feelings you’re describing. There’s this mix of exhaustion and raw honesty that makes it impossible not to feel what you’re feeling. It’s dark, yes, but it also feels so real and human. Beautiful work!
