A knife in a gunfight,
To ask her out to dinner.
Saccharine summer solstice,
I pull out my coat out for the winter.
An axe to clean my plate,
Strike a match for my cigarette.
They say a lemon a day
Can burn the final alkanet.
A cactus, the only one
I cared to keep alive.
That prick decided years ago
To take it for a dive.
A Venus flytrap,
But a vegetarian.
I bite the flower thinking
I’m some damn comedian.
The marigolds all died,
I lost all the attributes.
Eccentricity wilts,
I poured whiskey in my roots.
