Today,
I took some pills I shouldn't
take,
I bought some clothes I couldn't
afford,
I said some things I wouldn't
usually

Today,
I didn't die

This poem provokes a lot of thought in very few words- A trait I deeply admire in a poet. I have sat rereading this a couple times now and I am quite captivated by this piece. If you have anything you would like to share around your subject matter, technique, or anything relating to this poem, I would love to hear it.

Wow, thank you so much! This means the world to me, and I am so happy that my poetry captivated you in such a way! It is undoubtedly a short poem, and it came to me on a random evening; as someone who has been struggling with depression and a lack of motivation, every day feels like it's been stripped down to its bare bones, just a series of checkpoints, small things that had happened. I tried to capture that feeling with my poem ❤️

You captured that feeling very well! Sometimes inspiration strikes randomly, I'm glad you did not let the inspiration pass by you. I hope your poetry is helping you cope with your depression. Poets can be isolated people, so I remind you to not be afraid to reach out to others for help.<3

It really feels as though you are describing a day that feels greatly monotonous to you, while also taking actions that are not beneficial to you out of apathy. You really stripped the actions you described from any emotion, which seems to be exactly what you intented to communicate! Sorry I had so much to say, but this poem sparked a lot of thought.

No need to apologize, I absolutely love talking about poetry! And you explained my own poem better than I ever could've! I've always been insecure about the briefness of most of my poems, so this is helping me boost my confidence. I once again have to thank you for your kind and insightful words, I can't even begin to explain how much they mean, especially since I was a bit apprehensive about posting my own works. Hopefully my works I post in the future strike as much thought as this one did!

I look forward to reading more of your work! The length of a poem is never in any way indicative of its worth or how much it has to say.

i love how ironic the title is. you tried out something new you wouldnt do or couldn’t do usually but it still felt the same. thats what this poem brings out in me. it lowkey reminds me of some dark moments in my life and makes me appreciate this moment more and appreciate that i decided to break the monotony

its really amazing that a such short poem brought out such a deep emotion in me
