I'd rather be a poet than a poem.
I'd rather let my thoughts run wild,
To be known and shown.
As a poem,
You are shown what you are.
You are shown your own beauty to yourself,
How you make the poet feel,
How your words and actions make the poet feel.
As a poet,
I get to show my poem how I feel.
I get to prove my love, expose my soul.
All of my feelings are on the line,
While my heart rests on my sleeve.
I get to feel infinite in my words.
I'd rather be a poet than a poem,
Because I know I'll never get a chance to be the poem.
