I've got a reputation,
They call me the Yes Man.
Born with that title - Mr Always Does His Best Man
Give a 100%, maybe more, but never less than,
I've ot some things to say, need to get it off my chest - damn
Never wanted to be less than.
A lesson in obsession, just tryin' to be the best,
I'm 13 in the mirror an im poppin' a flex,
I'm barely seein' pecs so im not that impressed
More perplexed, seeing men in magazine flexin' in their vests
Then there's prepubescent me lookin' to digest
What the hell it means to go out and dress
Culture sows the seams of this body I confess
So I decided to shape it
Push, pull the fat - begin to grate it
Calories count, can I make it?
Catch reflections until I don't hate it
Then the school yard starts to praise me
'Hey look, it's that lad with the 6 pack' - whispers name me
But with grades still low there's those who shamed me
Government inspired fears of those who'd pay me.
But i've never really felt like that learned type
Always been that grinder till i've earnt it type
That typed out typer till I earnt my stripes
So then I got into uni to learn the hype
So - go on, call me the yes man
Mr Does His Very Very Best Man
Mr Going to Impress Man
Mr Never Ever Less Than
So I moved away and meant uni teens with a purpose
To not live at home, but their curse was
Get grades, maybe praise, never a mortgage
Graduate, get a job, what a circus
Then work culture preached, 'Come on, lad, think of life as a whole, no distractions.'
Mate - I'm ADHD, I think in fractions
I pave the way to those distracted actions, I am melody, constant traction
My CV's so schizophrenic, that's it's main attraction
So don't you call me that yes man
Cos I don't need that stress man
I'll be pickin' up your reps im the best am, passin' all your tests, not impressed
Time to rest, man
