I knew a boy once, a long time ago,
For his name was no more than a bellowing echo.
He searched through shadows, for pieces of light,
But danced with his secrets alone, every night.

He befriended me, on one of his late night travels,
And suddenly the whispers began to unravel.
He knew that his mind fought battles inside,
And that the truth was far too difficult to hide.

Back in reality, in a world unknown,
The lone boy let out a subtle groan.
Waking up from his slumber, confused and cold,
He reached out for something he couldn't hold.

Searching for answers but to no avail,
He looked in the mirror again, lowering his veil.
For hidden deep beyond his eyes,
I was wandering, beneath colourful skies

Through many paths, both big and small,
The pieces of acceptance began to fall.
Slowly becoming who I'm meant to be,
A soul unwinding, finally free.

The boy I once knew was not lost or wrong,
He was a journey to where I now belong.
For I am a girl who stands tall and strong,
The boy still remembered, in peace everlong.
