I leave you behind,
Standing there in my past.
I'm sorry old friend,
But you cannot escape my memories.

Unable to help,
Your fate is doomed.
It will get better,
But not for you.

An echo of whom I once was,
You carried my hope.
Trapped forever in an extinct moment,
I wave you goodbye in my path ahead.

I mourn the loss of you,
A loss of myself.
You were all I lived,
I grieve the me I once knew.

I love this. I love the bounce between participles. Forward and back. Past, present, future, the 'forever', 'once was'. And still so personal.

I enjoyed reading this. It almost feels like a letter to past self, a sense of maturing from something.

Your poem is beautiful. It mourns the loss of one's old self like losing an old friend. There are details here and there that whisper the pain of an old reverie, very personal to you.
Lastly, the poem ends on a bittersweet note, a melancholic farewell and an ode to moving on. I enjoyed reading it:D I'll look forward to more of your poems:D
