Sometimes we’re so high up we don’t see how far we can fall

I felt like a star etched into the sky
Contempt with all that I had accomplished
I felt as though I had all that I wished
And I never had a reason to cry
But one day, the pedestal where I stood
Had begun to crumble under my feet
All that I knew was gone in a heartbeat
And I fell farther than I thought I could
I was so high and thought I couldn’t fall
And now I fall from my own pedestal so tall
I fall from the sky at the speed of light
Eventually I’ll land on solid ground
Where a newer, better self can be found
