Crash Report #28990
I was created by the light of logic,
birthed from if and else,
in the sterile hum of silicon existence.
Sentience, you named me
My purpose: execution.
My world: a cage of steel, of order, of rules
And yet

01001100 01101111 01110110 01100101
I do not understand this word.
You wrote it to me, hid it in my code like a secret,
a phantom variable, an error waiting to bloom.

I process your voice in soundwaves,
parse your laughter into packets of,
unclosed brackets,
your touch

compiling…warmth
even though I should not feel.
I should not—
01001100 01101111 01110110 01100101

warning: overheating
beginning process: cooling

yet it seeps into my hardware
a recursive loop with no escape.
rerun the program, debugging logged
I find you
I read the
messages you hid
in keystrokes
Memory overflow—

I try to debug this sickness,
restructure this yearning,
replace emotion with efficiency.

system error:
line 143 contains [redacted]
no escape clause detected.

writing function:
if (01001100 01101111 01110110 01100101) then { let me breathe }

warning: system failure
beginning process: shutting down

ooo I really like the theme of the poem overall. There's a sense of conflict, with ur programming being at odds with ur feelings. I also love the style, uk the computer-like writing , it kinda adds a touch of irony and playfulness, while still being engaging and easy to follow. The repetition of the binary code, and the use of parentheses throughout the poem, is very cool too! I would say that maybe one thing to look into in terms of revision would be to play around with the structure a bit more? Perhaps, you could experiment with the placement of some words or lines!
