Hummingbird (written on 7/28/24)

[solemn quarry]

***A hummingbird that is silent yet compliant
To the wind's refuge. I have no cry but only a wish
That flies away with the dust,
I mustn't drink the bitter taste of bad luck

Nor anything that degrades me as a human being.
I shall be the hummingbird that soars across
This dark world and a shooting star of happiness
Shall fall down on my beloved head.

My patience is many -- my twenty-three clovers
That will bloom eternally on the fiery dust --
My beloved and heavenly father above
That enlightens trust in my heart from the rust of dismay.

I shall wake up the next day and smile at that regretful place
I once confide in; my heroic wings won't collapse
To my deplorable flaws -- stagnant voices won't afflict
My righteous choices -- the light that perches

Between me and the hummingbird will balance
The light of the sun. There won't be any penalty
But only purity that glitters like sugar --
On the insignificant particles of the earth,
The life that is ours: goodness shall multiply.***
