"Unpublished rhetoric" refers to unspoken thoughts (about one's feelings and mind) and "Cadaverous vision" refers to brain fog that happens during depression. The thoughts seemed to have "vanquished" (destroyed), now the questioning of one's inner feelings and state of mind began. You don't recall the memories but everything is stinging and then you try to set everything aside to remove the ache and then you realize that you're losing your mind. When the night dies and morning approaches, one sees prosperous times again as if thosw nightmares weren't real. One questions god and believes that he doesn't exist because he wouldn't let all this happen if he existed. Qualmish (nauseous) questions occur (about all the inner turmoil) and then suddenly they look around and all the plausible helping hands (friends, families) have retreated. They don't know if in one’s quest to just somehow hold on to life and survive, they are sucking the life out of everyone healthy around her (extortion). Maybe thats why they had no company, no human contact whatsoever in that period. One wants to rip their eyes out because every sight hurts and makes their hearts palpitate with fear, with thoughts about what if something terrible is coming next again? The strongest people you know wants to crawl back like a coward or run away from friendships or relationships because all they can ever think of is how they'll end up ruining everything. Every close bond haunts them. I used receding like love to highlight the similarly. Love retreats. It never stays. Most great poet/author we know was morally, mentally corrupt or was suffering and hence causing their close ones to suffer with them. Phantasm of mind bereft implied the imaginations of minds thats already ruined, where the poets and writers spend endless hours escaping reality, ruins them more.

Imagine this: You have a house. And you have the outside world. The outside world is burning. Harming you. So you go inside your house because you think thats safe. But your house is infested with so many diseases and murderers and so much more. So neither place is safe.

They massacred the poet’s all.
And all the hearts so wretched,
Yet lay already dead
The seams of our promises
Shredded to limitless ends. 👌🏻
Oh damn

@glad mirage
This is an incredible poem, a masterpiece that perfectly uses symbolic imagery and metaphorical language to try and portray the sufferable human mind and torment that is derived from poets to express their inner turmoil or drift away from it.
