In the space between us, where shadows lie,
Boundaries rise, like walls to the sky.
They whisper excuses, cold and stark,
A fortress built to shield the heart.
"Boundaries," they say, "to keep me whole,"
But what of the fractures in your soul?
Is it solace you seek, in distance found,
Or just a way to let love drown?
Behind these lines, where emotions cease,
Is it effort’s death or false peace?
Guarded gates and silent pleas,
Are they chains or are they keys?
Effort wanes, replaced by walls,
And in their shadow, love falls.
"Accept this," they plead, "this less we give,"
But how, I ask, does one truly live?
In this realm of half-hearted ties,
Where truth is veiled by silent lies,
I stand, where boundaries grow,
Feeling the sting of love’s ebb and flow.
So tell me now, in this bounded land,
Are we lost, or do we understand?
For in the cracks of these dividing lines,
We find the echoes of hearts confined.
