XIII as in number 13 is often associated with conspiracy theories, to hint at hidden government agendas or cover ups.
A person has been found dead one morning, who had been killed with the help of q key. This is a scenario amidst rebellion against the government, who tried to regain control of the slipping power by issuing orders and promising the public about justice. Red acetate paper is used to discover hidden messages written with red ink underneath black ink, among a hundred thousand of other normal texts. Here it is used to describe the uncovering of suppressed cases and "crossbows commenced" suggests a violent response to people seeking justice. In order to tame and convince them, the government executed an innocent after framing him falsely for the murder. Everyone thought that maybe the innocent was an addict or maybe he held a grudge against the victim and hence killed him. But the narrator knew the truth, when he found antique keys hidden away cryptically and carefully behind the portrait of the parliament. The government silenced him to cover-up their corruption.

OOOO a mystery poem :o

Crackling doors amongst decades of rust
The carcass rolls atop dew-dense grass,
A pilfered key dangled down his nerves--
Oh my! Someone killed him first!

I love this beginning, it's got some very good imagery such as " Crackling doors amongst decades of rust", it just gives that atmosphere of old mysteries unsolved and you are exploring them with the interest of finding out the secrets, really adds to the poem immediately and really sets the scene. ✨

An unpublished rhetoric;
A fraudulence fearful.
The dead couldn't speak--
But neither could you.

Also a fav stanza, just sounds so cool and gives more mystery to it :>

I like this very much, well done <3

Ooo i like how you started this, I sudden shock of that the person killed them first is quite intriguing. I think the lines that speak the most to me are - The dead couldn't speak-- But neither could you. it flows gorgeously as always. Awesome one, my love ❤️

I really like your way with words. This is one of the more visually evocative poems I’ve read recently.
I see hurried movements, and smell old parchment. Half melted candles and hidden expressions. It’s really nicely done.

My favorite section is

Twas rifles, Winchester?
Or Marlboro brands?
Or deep bottled wines--
Well, your flout be damned!

It’s so syncopated and visual.

The way you blended the elements of mystery and historical ref. just adds more to this piece. Must I say, the wording screams mystery, and I love that. Very creative title too. Good job! 😄
