Your style reminded me of Shakespeare. No wonder you're as talented as him!
👀
Ooh, you did a great job exploring the contrast between hope & melancholy,
Yay
I'm def not as talented but GOD I LOVE Y'ALL SO MUCH 😭
Metaphorically: Barriers of our minds inhibiting us
Ahh i see
Okayy
@flint elk
This is beautiful, I love it!
Yeahh, it reminds me of Shakespeare too
Interesting way to make a metaphor out of picket fences! Do you know about the usual symbolism in the USA of white picket fences?
If you read the poem with both of these symbolic meanings in mind, it could add other layers and interpretations beyond what you already have
What is it??
So in the US, the “white picket fence” basically represents the ideal middle -class suburban life
where you have a comfortable house, a family… it’s a symbol of peace and being at ease
The fence is sort of the physical proof of having achieved the American dream
Ohh I see I see
So in that perspective, this poem might also be read as an encouragement to step ahead of the comfort zone?
Yeah, my thoughts exactly!
Jane my I ask how did you improve in poetry?
I am chasing to write about a picture in my head embedded by a poet I never met again. And I'm trying to get as better as I can because no amount words or emotions I've learned was enough to achieve that.
