#Have you published a poetry collection?

Hey! I have one book and second on the way. Have thought about this a lot actually, might have a few helpful ideas
Some starting tips :
1/ Have a running list of ideas where you jot down strands as they come. They could then be a standalone theme for a poem or you combine multiple
Include ideas from old poems to repeat and inspiration from other poems of the topic
2/ Also make a running list of cool phrases, rhyming pairs, interesting words or imagery, idioms etc
The goal is to have them suit your style & overall tone of the collection
3/ Sit down for 30 minutes at a pre-decided time and do your best to write with help of 1 and 2
Slowly, the flow will come to you but if not, try again that same day or def next day. You will soon become prolific imo!
Lmk if you have any follow ups/ want more. Cheers!
Thank you, that sounds good! I am curious tho what is the normal length for a poetry book tho?
is there a certain paper and sizing also
You are welcome bud
Idk about there being any "correct" length
But I feel if it's your first just try getting enough meat out to make it feel book-worthy
Like 3 is obviously too little and 300 obv too many, so somewhere around 30-100 depending on poem length, your comfort level etc
50 poems is pretty normal for collections
