there is no fancy usage of fancy words. there is no cat-mouse chase of interpretation. there is no dancing around the bush. how this poem is written reflects the mindset of the narrator. jaded, blunt, and pessimistic. the repetition and blunt, factual statements like "frogs are frogs, dogs are dogs." makes it seem like every statement in this poem is real. there is no escape from the disappointing, harsh reality we live in. you can't find alternatives. what you have is imagination. that is all you can ever have. you don't have anything to help you get to where you want to be except imagination, which brings you nothing but the reminder of your own lack of capability. every repetition is another setback, another failure, another hope lost. animals will keep needing animals as long as the world spins and the sun shines. just sleep it off and get over it.

honestly yea i like keeping my poems simple i dont enjoy making my readers chase the poem around to find its meaning 😭 id rather give them little hints of my theme like a snack along the road

two sentiments i adore back to back,

"and in the bars with the soldiers and sailors / there was very little chance for a misfit" speaks so strongly to the environment within, and says so much about why it is the narrator finds themself there

and "the ladies wanted the warriors / the ones who would die for them" just rings so true to a lot of feminine culture ig? i feel like we're pretty raised on both the idea of the wartime hero but even more so on "men who love enough to change for us", be that changing for the better, or changing states of matter/life

absolutely

some of my favorite writers for topics abt love are actually just songwriters, im a big fan of how hozier explores it (im a cliche) but also of a little known artist known as "the narcissist cookbook"

his songs have stuck with me more than nearly anyone else, and i owe that to the depth he lends the subjects and the unique frameworks he adds to them

love poetry and writing on love can work on its own, but i find it infinitely more engaging when it comes with some broader topic too

i have this distinct memory of getting my first tooth extracted at the dentists office at age six and asking my father if he could play "blank space" for me as i sat slumped in the backseat with bloody gauze clenched between my teeth

just as infused with childhood as the blank space story, im afraid

growing up i was really into animal jam, this online game thing where you could have different animal avatars

my favorite one was a penguin named "fuzzy frozenpenguin", and, as a kid with internet access, i of course began to fantasize about what my life as a youtuber would be like

i decided that the ideal name for my future world famous animal jam youtube account was a shortened version of that penguin's name, "fyzioo"

alas, it stuck.

(though not on youtube, thankfully. i am spared of that scar on my online name.)

Although I do have two, but make sure you read them in order. And if you do, be forewarned that I tend to write about heavier topics. Not because I like being dark, but because I like to write about social and global issues that tend to be ignored in favor of things like climate change or other common causes
(Or actually talking about it just makes ppl uncomfortable, but they SHOULD)

Ok i can get an idea of it and ill try to edit the poem to implement those more raw feelings to it, and that was a great poem by the way , it was really good, love the repetition of some lines, it was quite fluid
