This is my most recent poem

My heart is split.
I don’t know on whether to let go of the past…
Or chase the present.
I know that life is short
And that I should keep going,
But I hold hope in the past
But I hold hope for the present.
I am watching two butterflies flutter around me,
Both guiding me to their own path,
But what do I take?
My heart aches to take both
But one I cannot adhere to both.

This was just a first scratch but lot of repetition and such

Needs a lot more fixing

Actually struggle so much write poems

I quit for like a whole year after I finished this collection cause I was so drained

I had been entering competitions and just sending them off places

Wasn’t getting anything in return so I was like I’m not cut for this and stopped a whole year

Slowly easing back into it now but yeah

One last one but this one I’m currently trying to fix

It’s censored

Our hearts are connected,
I can feel it when I think of you.
The good moments we had with one another.
I look back and smile at the jokes we used to crack,
Or the advice you gave me that would turn into a life long lesson.
I really didn’t need to do that, but you offered.
You opened your heart to me,
In hopes of reaching my heart.
We might’ve of not always seen eye to eye,
But you were always still a brother,
You annoyed the sh- out of me
And drained my social battery
But you gave life to my soul
And kept my beat going
Now I sit here alone
Talking with my paper and pencil
Wondering where you’ve gone
And how you’ve been.

I do want to try an make a second collection but I’m trying to figure out how to gear it to my liking

I’ve read a bunch of poetry books and I love them but my main issues is

They are just collections of poetry

I want some more tangible then just a collections
