“I love you.”
My dearest,
Those words will never be enough.
Love; a foreign concept
To what’s found in the dictionary.
No annunciation will ever capture
You. No, us.
There are no colors in a wheel of gray.
The bird can’t fly without its’ wings.
The garden can’t thrive without flowers, Nor can
That garden live without soil to grow.
The eye can’t see with only one.
There is no thunder without lightning.
There is no flame without a spark.
The sea isn’t earth without land.
The moon can’t shine without the sun, and
The sky isn’t space without stars.
The “me” that you know
Couldn’t be me without you.
Nothing is nothing without something.
I can’t speak without your ears
Being there to listen.
I can’t smile without your grin
Showing before mine.
My melody doesn’t play without yours being there
To accompany those notes.
I plead not to sound clingy or desperate or silly—
Dear I need you to hear this;
The indescribable I hope to describe.
The unimaginable I want you to imagine.
The unfathomable I need you to fathom.
With your ears and your eyes,
And those shoes I have yet to walk in
All you need to do is listen.
But then again,
All I need is a second with you
To make all the time in the world count.
