Foreshadowing the act of walking into emptiness,
Kills my soul into definitive ashes.
Walking back into what used to be ours,
Now it’s just a soulless vacant house,
Filled with memories of you, my dear.

Every step I take shatters my broken heart,
Cutting agony surges through my soul.
Every moment I close my tearful eyes,
I see your face smiling gracefully,
Telling me everything will be alright.

Yet, stabbing knives punched into my chest,
Forming never ending trauma in my soul.
I see the picture of our beautiful family,
Two young children, playing football,
With their beloved, handsome daddy.

Now, you are gone, our family is gone too.
I gleam away to see your golden watch,
The one I gifted you for Christmas.
You would wear it everyday in every place.
Bringing back true nostalgic memories of life.

Life with you was the best decision of my life.
Despite our small, bitter arguments,
We always healed from sweet moments.
I see your blue and gold striped tie,
The one you asked me to find.

Your soul will forever lay in my shattered heart.
Longing for peace, yet another deceit.
We will forever love you for eternity.
Hoping I could gain back my sanity.
Thank you for forever being my hero.

This wasn’t intended at all probably but I love how the end rhymes with you name lol
But other than that I saw your text when you had asked for ideas and thegoat gave you this prompt
I seriously didn’t think anyone (at least I) could pull it off but wow 😭😭
It feels so nostalgic and sad but peaceful all at once, like the widow already accepted her beloved‘s fate but still years for him to come back
You’ve done it really beautifully and the poem is great (as always)!!

HOLDUP IM NOT DONE YET

#

The use of vivid imagery and specific details, such as "ur golden watch," "the picture of our beautiful family," and "ur blue and gold striped tie," adds depth and emotional impact to the piece.

#

The repetition of the phrase "yet, stabbing knives punched into my chest" effectively conveys the pain and suffering the speaker experiences in the wake of their loss

#

and the final lines are particularly powerful, expressing the speaker's longing for peace and their gratitude for their loved one's presence in their life

I don’t know it’s purposeful, but the change in final punctuation in each line really emphasises the emotion of the poem. To me it echoes the broken nature of heartbreak, while it seems obvious, it’s so profound that it’s simply amazing to read. You did an amazing job. The repetition of “shattered” reinforces the cyclical nature of grief in a truly beautiful way. Really, well done!
