A battered heart
And a broken wing
A fool turned king
Who lost all but his crown
Who lost his smile and replaced it with a frown
Oh Foolish king, that gold will only drown
And pull you down
Oh foolish king, have you not learned a thing?
Your foolishness will only bring harm
And have you forgotten your comrades in arms?
Your eyes see only the crown's charm
But not the blood of those before you
Those who lost their wings to the monstrosity of war
Those who returned with battered hearts and swore
To protect this land above all
Yet you dare to speak of their actions as small?
Oh foolish king whose heart knows no mercy
Let go of your crown
For you are unworthy

Fun fact: I want to turn this poem into a book but I do not know if it's worth it or not
I wrote it a while back I am trying to turn that into reality but still some difficulties await
@trail saddle i like the energy of this piece, could be a song fr
Oh thank you!
yeah i like the word play to and it seems to me the king has lost touch with his poeple
The king and the fool / one on the throne, one on the stool / one wears a crown, one is a clown / two sides of the same coin // For the royal made his bones / mustered men to fight his foes / stood tall looked straight at his enemy / and brought him to catastrophe // Since that day, he's been shadowed / by this other man whose jokes / slay folks in humorous limericks / he becomes a growing shadow of the king // As the king grows thin / his head balds and he forgets / nearly all the duties of the realm / while the fool contiunes to ridicule him //
Yeah !that is the main idea, the king completely loses touch with his people until his downfall by the people he once thought was less than him
yeah i like rhe last 2 lines just basically says that his crown doesnt determine that hes worthy of being a king or atleats thats how i put it
Yes, he wasn't worthy of the crown, to be worthy of the crown you have to appreciate your soldiers, your farmers, even to the last citizen , their efforts you have to appreciate and never think of those who lost their lives to war as "mere sacrifices" and while sacrifices must be made, they also must be mourned, the king wasn't like that, he thought their sacrifice was small
That is why the king is unworthy, that and his foolishness and greed
*That is why the king
is unworthy, that and his
foolishness and greed*

i like that processing alot it really hits. in the story of the unfit king.
one who doesnt mourn ones death for his land and his soldiers life, is unfit to be king.

Yes to be a king you must also be human, someone inhumane cannot be a ruler for humans
