#my pen.

to those that cannot view the photo:
my pen.
i hold my pen, with a thought weighing heavy:
how do i write the depths within
when my soul does not hold the pen?
my body becomes but a vessel
confined by its physical, earthly limits.
if my heart replaced my brain,
eloquence will flow from my lips
and my hands will craft the language of love.
yet no lexicon, however vast and wide,
can capture the fullness of this world's essence,
the entirety of the universe's depths.
as my pen lingered upon the page, a moment too long,
the ink bled deep, staining the pages beneath, like a tattoo.
for i believed the words written on the surface
needed to seep deeper into my being,
needed to bleed deeper and deeper into the paper
to unveil the profound, the agonizing, the potent truth of humanity and its depths.
though, no word is too shallow not to pierce deeply
nor too fleeting not to carve wounds on one's heart,
like ink tattooed on the skin — the stings persist, their permanence indisputable.
yet, in my misjudgement, i've written nothing but an acceptance letter to myself:
i fail to compose anything, for the expanse of this very existence is too vast
and too precious for simple phrases to represent.
i put my pen down.

Honestly amazing, I really hope to be able to write like this
Brilliantly evocative imagery used here, I love how the metaphor of the pen being much like a tattoo needle translates further into the paper being like skin and the final result acting as a reflection of one’s self. You may claim to have failed to compose anything, but if this stands true, then you still can take pride in having succeeded in breaking your body’s qualities of its “vessel” nature, “confined by it’s physical earthly limits” - you’ve unearthed at least part of your heart, and that writing’s “permanence [is truly] indisputable”.
i love this analysis, thank you for this!! 🥺
i'm sure you do, love ! 🤍
Nicely written, beautiful imagery, slightly on the nose(not a big problem) but otherwise, wonderful.
thank you for reading! 🤍
This is such a delight for me to read, as poets here your thought deeply seeps it's way in my streams and I wonder if breathing your breath at the same time is human or not. I love the imagery composed here and how the flow takes place without any resistance. The conclusion has this powerful way to impact the reader and the mentioning of writing an acceptance letter to the Poet themselves makes it more precious. Awesome work, Irene!
thank youuu, this made my day 🥹
your written art is also a delight to read.

I was the dark pieces in this server
But your writings are different
I was actually looking forward to read something like this nd thought isn't there somebody who writes it
But found you
You do
How u appreciate thoughts nd the vastness.
How u put ur awe in words
But yet know the complexity and simplicity of it

DAMN?
damn. damn !!
okay i’ll stop saying damn (last one i swear)
the topic of this one is WILD— it really isn’t touched upon so often so it’s refreshing to see it done here. not to mention, YOU DID IT SO DAMN WELL(i lied)
this poem feels super personal and expressive, and the parallels you drew using the pen and paper in alignment with people and their humanity is done GORGEOUSLY
of all the metaphors i’ve witnessed this has got to be one of my favorites. not just in its uniqueness, but because you did it SO WELL
truly took this one to the next level and made every word and line count, taking this poem to its maximum potential
truly a phenomenal job i adore this
MOMOWMOMFMF. THANK YOUUU. since we are poets, there really aren't poems about what goes on in our heads; so let this be a poem merely for the poets. i wrote this bc i had no words while doing spoken poetry w friends, and it inspired me to write this. 🥹
