I gave myself a desert in the sky
To soak with tears that never said goodbye
I watered it, but green it wouldn’t be
Instead, the muddy sand, it laughed at me
I offered up instead a cup of blood
to soak the soil with love I bottled up
It reddened all the soil beneath my feet
Then came a gush of wind and covered it
Defeated, I fell down to wait for clouds
Though, none would come, despite my harrowed shouts
But, far away, I heard a blue bird sing
While carrying the promises of spring
No grass grows on the steep hills of my past
But hope might show its mighty face, at last
