hi everyone my name is lenda. I've neve done this before but I have a little problem. I've signed myself in for a poetry competition in German, even though I have never written a poem in German before. It's in a week and I'm really struggling to write something bc I got used to writing poetry in English. I don't know what to do at this point so if someone could help me I'd appreciate it a lot, even if you think its just a dumb thought, thank youuuu

I don’t know if this helps, but this is from a book about writing in English as a language you’re learning, and you could try the methods in Germans.

They’re like prompts that make you think.

The important is thinking in your target language.

Also I am trying to write German poetry as well 😭.

I tried to be inspired from a poem I love called Der Mond ist aufgegangen and we’ll see how that turns out.

I'm working on a poem inspired by the speech from Martin Luther King for now

but I need 2 poems for Friday. So I'll finish that and then work on another poem tomorrow

the hard part is always just the beginning

What’s different with writing in different languages
