Many of these are award winning, published poets. Now you may not like them or disagree (and academics disagree too) but generally any blend of devices like assonance, consonance (which form rhyme), flow/meter (regular or not), and especially symbolism make a poem a poem.

Mind you when I studied poetry in college we studied contemporary poetry, the classics I studied date back to middleschool about 20 years ago now.

you're okay! I just love poetry and wanted to share - I often felt the same - make sure to not take pauses line to line with these poems IMO - they often read so well! The rhythm is key though. Try lining up the rhymes on different beats and changing the pace - it's so fun!

it's okay! whatever is fun imo - I like to save stuff for later a lot actually. It was nice chatting! We need more classicalists here too, and forms and classicalism is a big thing sometimes. I hope we see some cool work with regular meters too : )
