Another one inspired by a Greek myth, but also the problem where a person is seeking for a perfect replica of their anima/animus, instead of realizing that what they need is already within themselves. That this search is blocking them from experiencing a romantic relationship and results in low self esteem.
Also what I dub "Good Will Hunting Complex"; finding reasons to avoid romantic relationships due to the possibility that it might not last, thus never experiencing anything.
"Striking shiny surface" refers to good looks, the persona, the animus projected onto him or possibly personifying the pool itself and from Narcissus' pov.
I threw in "growing numb", Narkao, because the effect of the fragrance is possibly what the flower was actually named for. It's also commonly said that love is intoxicating.
"Pool of pleasure" referring to the pleasure Narcissus experienced by looking at his own beauty, i.e. not sexual in nature. Turn of phrase used by Oscar Wilde in his short story about Narcissus.
"Let me bathe bare [...] in your pool" is how I refer to being allowed to be vulnerable to the mutual projection/reflection that's to a degree inherent in relationships.
"Play pool" referring to how this projection isn't necessarily malicious, but can be playful. Also relating Puer Aeternus complex to Narcissus.
Feedback is welcome!

Nightfall Narcissus nourishes need for novelty
Welcome in winter when there are no flowers to see
Staring solemnly at your striking shiny surface
Painfully pining away, providing pure purpose
Handsome hero, hear my pleas, please don't leave me heartbroken!
Refuse to reject romantic relay once spoken
Embrace the experience, don't excommunicate
Echo fears for final frightful fate that might await
Growing now nearly numb near your narcotic nectar
Let me bathe bare in your play pool of precious pleasure

i like your summary of the good will hunting complex, infact it's that pattern of behavior that often develops depression in people as a complex of avoiding negative experiences

#

if any situation has a chance to go bad, it is avoided; and the chance of something good happening is also just as equally avoided.

#

the way you frame the desire for love and the fear of heartbreak is a good running contrast

#

it almost feels like every first line is a praise and every second one is a bane

#

not entirely but it almost feels like each line following is the sort of emotional opposite

#

"painfully pining 'away', providing pure purpose" in my brain feels a little out of place "painfully pining with love in hiding " is the first thing my brain comes up with but it also feels like 'away' is essential for relay 2 lines later

#

'echo fears that fate might bear' is my second throwaway

#

as I was reading it I noticed you could actually swap around the order of words a bit and it still carries the same umpf

#

even getting a bit ' nonsensical ' with it; word choice allows for some room to do some weird stuff

im reminded a bit of one of my favourite poems
