i actually feel the quietness of the night here. ''falling grains of time'', I imagine the sound reverberate in a slow motion; there's a sense of relief in grandma's snore and i like to think the laughter in the halls are people who are walking to their doors after a fun night outside. you nailed it at the ending, going back to hearing the ticking after being briefly distracted by the coinciding sounds and the anxiety that they may have caused. I love how this was very life-like, well as you said that this was based on real experience. I love how you turned the moment into this. I have such taste for poems like this. I really love it!
