In the Bradford pear I saw
a beautiful, well-feathered bird,
magnificent reds and yellow crest,
and melodic birdsong heard.
As it sat round small white flowers,
enamored by it soon I was,
pecking at the hard, brown fruit
singing, though without a cause.
I sought to come in closer,
to see such beauty in my eye,
but some stray noise had startled it.
The stunning bird took off to fly.
I saw it only for a moment,
that splendid specimen, did I,
but I think of that bird quite often,
wondering why it said goodbye.

Only important info here is a Bradford pear is a kind of tree. It's not referring to a fruit.

This is a very beautiful poem, with rich imagery. I’m a sucker for poems about nature, and I really think you did well here 🙂
