I crashed hard last night, solo and was moving items from my inventory to a box, took about 5mins to finally close off kworker and steamwebhelper processes

cpu at 100% for a good 5mins

where do i find my logs please? imma go read around

#

i cropped out when it started to lag in-game and then eventually crashes

started new game, left it idle/menu for about 35mins and came back, played about 15mins and did a lot of inventory work, it started to really act like it was about to crash again

went back to main menu, loaded game, same state

exit game, takes a few seconds more than it should, i went back in, performance is fine

RAM looks to be eaten up in that time, vram as well

I've been able to reproduce it

#

It seems to happen when the game attempts to save

Additional: if I've tried to screenshot or used alt-tab, my system becomes unresponsive

I see <Saving please do not close game>

  • open inventory of vehicle
  • double click item in inventory expecting it to transfer

Systems starts to go haywire

  • if I try to click and drag from inventory to vehicle inventory, it makes it so even alt-tab becomes fruitless and the entire system hangs

Experiencing a pretty lengthy moment in lag right now

New save as of today

I decided to switch from the best AA method down to TSR.

Immediately start getting major issues where the game locks out the system for a little while

#

Update: it ate 13gb of RAM before I could eventually crash the process

Just clicking apply made the entire system unresponsive

I get having an impact on my performance but this simple step ate up about 5gb of RAM in less than 30s

#

When I restart the game, works fine

Yeah

#

I'll give experimental a try today

Save game is good between?

#

Or best to start a new save?

#

fwiw I support these games with the full expectation I might need to restart

I would say you can use your old save, but save it separately because they are not back compatible if you switch back

Since the original post, you've switched to Proton. This is a different bug.
