#Must be fixed: SICK?

Loving this game , its heading in the right direction but there is one thing in it that i am surprised not many people discuss. It is about getting the SICK? infection , when you do, its game over , and thats fine but for the love of god there must be a way to avoid it.

As it is now , i can respawn in a house with a fresh new "life" making sure my gear is 0% dirty , making sure to get the sleep i need and only drink and eat pure things , and i STILL get the SICK? infection. 😠

This is game breaking when someone (like me) really wants to play the game and survive trying to avoid this , some say "just respawn you start new and get your gear back and everything" but thats not the point , if this is the way it is supposed to be handled then why bothering at all having diseases infections etc in the game , better just have an "god mode" enabled right away (no thats not what we want)

Trying to not sound negatvie here but this thing is a gamechanger , otherwise keep up the great work ! ❤️

As someone who has avoided getting Sick for the longest time, there are 3 main avenues to get the zombification virus.

  • Getting scratched. By anything. This includes: scratches from barbed wire, zombies, glass, boars, and wolves.
    • By extension getting bitten ensures you get the virus. Getting scratched only gives you a chance to get the virus.
  • Staying scratched. You need to disinfect the wound immediately with alchohol or equivalent to stop an infection from occuring.
  • Staying/entering anything with Vomit-Inducing Smell. Smells can give you the virus.

Then there's the uncommon ways to get it:

  • Getting hit by the "Hand" Grenade
  • Getting injected by Black Syrup (or consuming it yourself)

I have not seen any situation where zombification has occurred because of things outside of your control...tho technically smell is outside of your control, but you are able to sense if you're going into a Vomit smelling area if you see "Musty Smell".

Zombification virus is also on a queue with other sickness. You can get bitten while having a fever, and the zombification virus will not appear until you recover from your fever.

If you just don't wanna bother with any of this, set the infection to 0% via admin menu.

Thanks for input ❤️ all of these factors i understand.

Let me repeat myself , i have several times spawned at home fresh, making sure to have clean clothes, eating drinking pure stuff, getting my sleep and also avoiding smells (there are no bodies near my home)

I still get the SICK? , that is simply not ok.

-"Just turn infections off"

Havent tried this but this is not what i want , the infection is what we try to avoid , one of the big things that makes the game interesting.

smells aren't just from bodies near the home, they can also accumulate from other things (the biggest of which that are often ignored are meat, cannabis, cigarettes, and alcohol, and if you have alot of it -- as well as the location itself as marshes and wastewater plants will always have a stench to it). I would assume as well you have not been in any combat with anything, as any hit during meelee combat risks getting the virus.

If you still are getting sick(?) after 3 days of doing nothing of the sort then it's a bug that should be reported via ingame function.

I agree I feel like there should be a few more ways to minimize infection chances like maybe if you are wearing armored clothing those have to break before scratch or bite can work to infect although then you have a whole new set of balancing issues I suppose

Hmm I am wearing swat armor and I could’ve sworn I had it on when I got infected in my last playthrough but I could be misremembering thanks for letting me know I’ll test some more

I'm really just speculating and I could just be very lucky this time around with not getting infected 😄

I've been hit by a wolf tho with a bite and immediately started the zombie countdown

I have about 100 hours play time and haven't gotten anything more than a cold. Let alone getting the infection multiple times. So, this sounds more like a skill issue; no offence.
