#All animal kills give meat and leather

oh didnt realise that , was just surprised to see a deer with no meat
While this is true, I think it's unrealistic (in an ultrarealistic game) that an animal wouldn't have SOME kind of meat on it, even if it's just low quality or rotten meat
Also, I'd like to add, we should at very least be able to get bones from them
Obtaining food is easy. Preservation that's hard. Meat and meals just need to spoil faster. Rimworld actually got this right for the most part.
Slower crop growth.
Faster raw/refridgerated meat decay,
Slower preserved food decay (eg, peanut butter shouldn't be going bad in a month, and salt shouldn't at all!).
One reasonably sized animal provides a lot of meat, even if you don't have much idea what you're doing. The problem is preserving the meat to eat later once you've butchered it.
Would personally love the skinning/hunting mechanic to work similar to dayz
Yeah if you got the meat and it isn't cooked or smoked very quickly it goes off. And I know everyone says it's easy to get food but I'm on day 2 and can't find enough things to make Mac n cheese
I agree; all animals should give resources when killed. Realistically, I should be almost encumbered by the amount of meat they give. But that meat needs to be salted/cured or something to preserve it. A day or two without and it's wasted. But also, exposed meat would stink something fierce, so even carrying it prior to preservation would become dangerous when trying to sneak by zombies, or bears for that matter 😂
hunting is planned on getting revamped already, so I have my reservations for this suggestion. Mining for example already gives a set amount of items, so a new hunting system will likely do the same.
we already have a drying rack for preserving meat. No need for salt. The problem right now is that all food seems to be tied to the same spoil timer. Salt shouldn't expire. meats and fruits should expire fairly quickly, root vegetables and grains should last the longest (dried rice is practically immortal), and so on.
But that said. more meat, fewer roaming animals. Cow and Chicken farming is more about milk and eggs than meat.
