I think you should make cooking to same way that project zomboids cooking works , no recepies that you have to click but you just add food to either cooking pot or pan or whatever you got and then you keep adding from there , perhaps you could even add all the calory system for gaining/losing weight as cooking is my favorite thing to do in games and I would love for it to have more depth in vein eventually!

''hunger'' currently acts like a calorie system in how if you eat excessively you get fat and if you are not eating enough you loose weight.
I would love to see however loss of Strength and stamina stats if you have starved for a longer time.
Likewise a loss of agility and stamina when getting fat.
This would encourage people to eat ''enough''.
However there needs to be a good means to recover those stats, perhaps a ''wellbeing'' modifier that influences the character depending on satiation, injuries and how often incurred.
u guys are 'cooking', no?
I came here just to say this, this game would be perfect if the cooking was overhauled this way.
I like the idea of adding the food to a cooking pot or pan. I would love it if we could create recipes, would feel much more survival-y and the dish would be a combination of whatever you put in it (stat wise and visual wise, maybe max of the three top things or something?) But if I throw meat and cream of chicken soup and a veggie or two in an oven dish, for example, the game could call it a casserole.
If I wanted to cook like PZ.. I would play PZ. I like the recipies. Just have to find the one that uses dried seaweed and Japanese Mayonnaise that I just looted.
I've never played project Zomboid, but being required to follow certain recipes doesn't feel very survival, esp if they require things that must be looted. I'm fine with keeping the recipes and having them give larger buffs than slapdash ones, but I would like to throw chicken and veggies in a oven dish or a pan and make my own
With pz type of cooking you could use the exact same recepie as well...
