I like the idea of adding this to increase the threat level of some zombies. And I see this in to ways. No gun toting zombies, though if a gun is found it is probably no ammo and having long been spent.

Idea 1: armed zombies with 1 handed weapons still clenched in hands of some of the walking dead. They may attack slower than normal. If a two handed weapon zombie is found it should either not attack or have a really slow but heavy attack.

  • additional notes: I don’t want them too powerful but a new varied threat. In both cases these would be rare.

Idea 2: depending on your world lore, a broken arm zombie with a sharp bone as a weapon would make some sense. It would make a piercing and slashing attack. I see this being more likely and an interesting way to balance this zombie out is it cannot climb, given it only has 1 hand it simply cannot climb, or there are two variants ‘long bone’ or ‘short bone’ (someone help me with a better name) where one can climb because there is enough to climb while the other doesn’t have the ability.

Question regarding zombies, does armor protect them? It seems like no matter what the armor doesn’t help. But I havnt played multiplayer to science how armor works the best with some friends

Military Zombies?

You could make the Military Zombies rare mini bosses and if you beat it that's how you get a decent gun Military gear and gun attachments and the Military backpack you could have these Boss Military Zombies in Research areas where you find the white tents?

Making a zombie more difficult is challenging. The main threat is supposed to be large numbers, but currently this isn't really in the game (I've only seen like 20-30?). Making special zombies is fine but can quickly just become the classic Left for Dead elites, Tank, screamer, etc. which has been done to death. The sharp bone is a good idea and would make "slashing" defense a more useful stat. Armored swat zombies could work, a faster version of the sprinter that runs on all fours would be creepy and difficult. Depending on the lore you could even have zombie monkeys if they broke out of a lab.
