What version are you joining with?
1.21.40
Try 1.26.0 or newer
too old
Older versions dont work right now
Ok
Do you plan to fix this issue in the future?
Maybe. Depends on how hard it is. I already tried it but failed so far
The problem is, that the client had a different authentication method back then
If the server is offline (cracked) and doesn't require an Xbox account, is it still not possible to fix?
Not that easy because the client still does not send data the server needs. I already tried that
I will do some more debugging on that
I have another question.
If I want to use PowerNukkit for an SMP server, roughly how many players can a single server handle?
It depends on your CPU and how much RAM you have.
128 ram
16 core 3.2
Idk. Have no tests for that. Depends on your setup. Like render distance, simulation distance etc
How many new chunks are generated..
World Generation is heavy. I managed to generate like 150 chunks a second on my pc. (Thats faster than java edition) Your server is much better than my pc. How many players do you want to handle?
Would be easier to estimate if your target number is possible than estimating a max player count
I'm aiming for around 300 concurrent players, but I'm not sure if a single PowerNukkit server can handle that.
This can get up to 220 already
I mean chunks only generate once, at some point generation will slow down and the instance can handle more players. We've seen 350 on a single instance with 40% load before, but that was with no generation happening
but lucky you, we've been optimizing for high tick and high player counts lately, so you can expect better performance than that
Without world generation, it can do that with ease.
You also have to account that not all 300 players are generating new chunks all the time. If all 300 move with a render distance of 24, probably not. But if like 250 are at their bases (not generating chunks) and 50 are walking though the world with a render distance of 6-8, probably yea.
PNX has the ability to limit the amount of chunks being generated in a given time. So with the right settings, your server wont lag at all. But chunk generation might slow down then if too many players walk around.
You'd have to test it. But yea. With the right hardware and settings, its 100% doable.
So, does that mean the main bottleneck is chunk generation? Entities and their AI won't be a major issue?
Yea
PNX is heavily multithreaded.
This also applies to chunk generation, but its just alot of work for your cpu.
Also, does the multiversion support work properly with Minecraft 1.26 and newer versions?
To 1.26.0 right now with AnyVersion
Versions below are not wirking right now. But I will look into that
Thank you so much for your time and for answering all my questions. I really appreciate your help
@frank bough @hoary trout
Of course 🙂
Yw
This is on my machine.
That's really great. If the multiversion issue can be fixed somehow, it would be amazing
Yea. But multi version is not a priority for me because on bedrock everyone auto updates by default. So everyone should be on latest version.
yeah i never understood why people sticked with older versions
bc they played cracked
I agree that using the latest version is better, but only when it's practical. In my country, logging into an Xbox account is difficult and usually requires a VPN, so many players prefer older versions that don't require an Xbox account.
Ah ic
Its fixed. Update to latest nightly and update AnyVersion. But I had to set the min version to 1.20.60 (3 minor versions up).
I actually think supporting 1.21 and above would be even better. From what I've seen on my server, around 90% of players join using versions newer than 1.21.
Yea. Its 26.30 to 1.20.60
This includes 1.21
1.21.51
Looks like your server has no connection to minecrafts auth servers. Maybe check your firewall?
I figured out what causes this error. It's because of the internet conditions and censorship here, so it can't connect. The same thing used to happen with Waterdog too. I kept restarting the server until it finally worked and stopped showing the error.
I got a new error again.
Do you have a modified client? Your client told the server that it does not understand the data it got
What version did you use`?
No, it's not modified. I'm using version 1.21.51.
Let me try that version
I got another error. One sec.
I just tried it with the version installed on my phone as well. The first time, it said the server sent a broken packet. The second time, it printed an error in the console.
Did you update anyversion and PNX?
I tested the version you released yesterday.
Let me reinstall it and try again.
15:01:30 [main] [INFO] Plugins (2): PowerNukkitX vnightly-SNAPSHOT, AnyVersion v2.8.3
15:01:48 [main] [INFO] This server is running PowerNukkitX nightly-SNAPSHOT (git-d899785) implementing API version 3.0.0 for Minecraft: BE 1.26.30 (protocol version 1001)
@frank bough Hi, did you find out anything about the plugin issue?
You mean the broken packet?
Newer versions sometimes have big performance issued on older devices and players that want to use a legit client like flarial, latite etc. either need to wait for them to update or just stick to an older version.
A friend of mine still doesnt play on the latest Version because he has pretty bad lag spikes that are heavily affecting his gameplay
I mean both the broken packet issue and the error I sent above.
Not yet. I forgot about that. Will continue on that
Have you had a chance to take a look at it?
There is always sth more important rn.. I will tell you once I find sth
