He controls MR but was attacked by another player and decided to leave. Good overall position with big fleet.

The homebrew changes is basically that imperial is activated for free every round. That is to say, everyone draws a secret in the status phase and whoever holds MR scores a guac point as if they used imperial.
Imperial is basically useless to take when you play Total War and Civilized Society, so this was a fix I wanted to test. So far It's working out fine.
We also improvised a new strategy card (because it's a 4 player game so we couldn't just purge it) which is exploration:
Primary - Explore 2 planets and one empty system (with or without dark energy tap and doesn't remove the frontier token)
Secondary - Explore 2 planets.
