Arborec is the first!
What?! Ughh 🤣🤣
Glad you agree 😉
Episode 40 - Winning With Arborec
Hot take: ||Don't research Sarween if you want to win||
Could someone please explain this no-sarween thing to me? I haven't played arborec yet but I'm playing titans with pds everywhere and sarween is helping so much
I don't understand how it could be bad for the weeds
BLT's main argument was that Gravity Drive and Carrier II are much more useful to Arborec. If you have time to get extra techs, then sure, but otherwise he'd rather have increased early mobility and a couple less destroyers
Yeah it's just that all sarween does is give you money. But if you pick a high resource slice, you have money, and the tech tempo is better used elsewhere.
Opportunity cost. It's a fine tech, but you get more out of others imo
Pretty confident the Hacan mach is errata remove and place meaning structures can also be shifted alongside other units. And you would not roll for cormund
I mean that's definitely how I would expect it to work
I like Sarween, and it almost certainly has positive value over the course of the game, i.e. you'll use it more then seven times, and cover the cost of the CC and the research. But it is worth thinking about the difference in value of early resources vs. late resources. Saving money over the course of the game may not be as good as maximizing your early production
The counterpoint is that with the hero, late-game resources are in fact really really important for Arborec. So if I can get Sarween without comprimising scoring and board presence too much, I do prefer to get it
It was a great basic Arborec guide. You even mentioned small details I was thinking about while listening - hazardous planets are not as great & you need an Imperial point.
We have a couple disagreements but the overarching advice is solid, and it's very possible I one day change my mind about structure objectives.
what's your current thinking on structure objectives?
But you have to spend tokens on worthless plastic!
And I'd rather see a structure objective flip early than a tech objective
that's logically sound but I love tech
Sure, I mean, that's the disagreement
BLT used /search my_games ended_games: true
dang it
So many WINNERs appear in your games
So much tech!
No sarween is interesting. Also a solid blue tech skip it seems 🔥
Just like in the episode!
(since I actually listened to this one, I have to make it real clear)
jol-nar neighbor. But I will never get sarween as arborec…
BLT i love this episode and i learned a lot!
one of my arborec games
how much better would arborec be if mitosis was rise of the messiah every round
Another ruthless mind control game it seems
yup
tbf the we ended the game after i said i had it locked up in round 4
we flipped the first stage 2
and no one scored it out
so point differential is off
2 rex points
Aight @carmine lark , I'm trying out your no-Sarween Arborec build
Let me know! I would say, your playstyle, where you're moving around the map, probably makes sarween make a lot of sense for you. Since I tend to stay put I like it less
I am planning on activating at least three systems this round, and it's only round 2...
I meant to extol the virtues of scanlink but I forgot
Uh, well, they weren't systems in which I already had units 😂
I've now missed out on at least 12 resources worth of production. I'm so behind on plastic. I spent Plagiarize to get Dread II because I don't have a yellow skip or AIDA.
Tbf, I think that "no Sarween" could work if you're just sitting at home, and I might have picked a bad game to try this build out, since the four player map is a bit more spacious.
Yeah I should clarify, it works for me because I don't go places
