Moments of Reflection - April CCD Challenge 🌼

April is here. The seasons are changing and we're changing along side them. This CCD is all about crafting haikus that truly capture those deep, introspective feelings, then creating a winning image from said poetry.

From quiet nature scenes to powerful realizations, we want your haikus to transport us into your world of thoughts and emotions. So go ahead and let your words paint pictures and stir our souls, as we dive into these moments of reflection together. πŸŒ€

Steps to participate

  1. Compose a haiku reflecting on the theme of "Moments of Reflection." Your haiku will serve as your prompt for this challenge.
  2. Create a photo on NightCafe using the poem you wrote. Only the default negative prompt may be used in addition to the Haiku when creating your image.
  3. Submit a link to your entry here.

Rules

πŸ”Ή Only the Haiku + default negative prompt allowed as prompts.
πŸ”Ή The default negative prompt can be set at any weight, but the words must not be altered.
πŸ”Ή All Algorithms allowed for entries. No exceptions.
πŸ”Ή ONE ENTRY PER PERSON
πŸ”Ή No starter images created externally or outside of NightCafe, meaning..
πŸ”Ή Evolves allowed (as long as we can trace the creation history back to just being created on NC)
πŸ”Ή Duplicates okay
πŸ”Ή Inpainting allowed
πŸ”Ή Upscaling encouraged πŸ™‚
πŸ”Ή New creations only (i.e., submissions made within the timeframe of the challenge)
πŸ”Ή NO NSFW, VIOLENT, OR GROTESQUE IMAGES
πŸ”Ή LoRA's are allowed for this challenge
πŸ”Ή Due to the intricacy of the rules, staff will be choosing the winner this time around.

IMPORTANT: If you're using DALL-E 3 for your submission, please make sure to enable the "Minimize Prompt Revision" setting. This ensures that your haiku is the only element influencing your artwork, which is crucial (if you want to follow the event's guidelines and be eligible for a prize).

Submission Process πŸ—³οΈ

πŸ”Ή Post your haiku as a NightCafe creation link to the "CCD Entries - April" channel, this channel.
πŸ”Ή Feel free to discuss your creative process and engage with fellow participants here as well! πŸ˜„

Important Dates:

Contest Start: Wednesday, April 24th @ 7pm UTC
Contest End: Friday, April 26 @ 11:59pm UTC

Please ensure your entry aligns with our community guidelines and server rules. NightCafeLove ThankYou

Here is the haiku I used:

Question: it sounds like we're allowed to evolve something completely different into our haiku prompted creation? So we can make something without the haiku first?

Hi! Prompt must be open or the haiku has to be the name of the creation?

@dense viper - does the lora tag have to be part of the haiku if you use a lora? or is that considered separate from the haiku?

It's beautiful ... but traditional Haiku's follow a 5 - 7 - 5 syllable pattern (unless they are allowing modern haiku that mostly sticks to 17 total syllables but is less particular about the arrangement). Might need guidance from @dense viper
https://www.britannica.com/art/haiku

Encyclopedia Britannica

A haiku is an unrhymed poem consisting of 17 syllables arranged in three lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively.

So wait - you can use a lora but you can't weight your prompt words? That seems a little "pro-centric"... IMHO

Thanks @tall crow! You're correct; haikus follow a specific pattern. @nimble surge, don't worry – haikus can be tricky, but I'm happy to clarify!

Here's a quick guide:

Line 1: 5 syllables (topic/setting)
Line 2: 7 syllables (more context/twist)
Line 3: 5 syllables (conclusion/connection)

You can turn your prompt into a Haiku by breaking your thoughts into shorter phrases while keeping this syllable pattern in mind. We're here to help, so feel free to ask for feedback! πŸ™‚

It's important to note that LoRA tokens and prompt weights serve different purposes. LoRA tokens help tell the AI to use a certain dataset to specify a certain style or mood in the final image. Prompt weights directly influence how the AI interprets the prompt and can change the foundation of how it's read.

Allowing LoRA tokens gives artists creative freedom while still focusing on the art of composing a haiku.

Permitting prompt weights would place more emphasis on manipulating the AI's interpretation of the haiku rather than focusing on the artistic composition of the haiku itself.

This is why our rules allow LoRA tokens but not prompt weights. Hope this clears things up!
