#Suggestion: Season 4 League Resets

PLEASE DO NOT RESET THE UPPER LEAGUES BACK DOWN TO GOLD LEAGUE AGAIN

Resetting the upper leagues (currently Platinum, Emerald, Diamond, and Noachium leagues) to Gold League in Season 2 and Season 3 created numerous problems:

  1. Seal Clubbing - Since the pre-season upper leagues were temporarily mixed with pre-season lower league players, there were tremendous disparities between skill and hangar levels. Especially by now, all veteran players have essentially maxed out hangars.
  2. Upper Leagues Ghosttown - Early grinders who ranked up to platinum were met with 0 players. This makes the game feel dead, and that is a daunting experience.
  3. Bot Farming - Due to the previous point, early grinders will likely face bot lobbies only. Due to no players to contest against them, its pretty much an easy grind up all the way to Noachium. Personally I don't care too much of this, but I have heard from the community that they don't think this is fair. Many players have jobs and can't play as much as early grinders, so why should early grinders have it easier to climb (with no contest bot matches) than non-grinders?
  4. Grind Fatigue - Veteran players (many of whom were in Noachium pre-season) have expressed dissatisfaction with having to re-climb back up 3500 league points every season. Many have stopped when Season 3 reset the same way. 3500 is too excessive in my opinion.

**Proposal: **Please reset all players down to the minimum league WITHIN their matchmaking groups (minimum within their own league for bronze and silver). IF my other suggestion to move platinum league to be in the same matchmaking group as gold league was implemented (#1451761623500062801 message), the resets should look like this (even if my other suggestion wasn't implemented, this also works):

  • Bronze League -> 0 league points (bottom of Bronze league)
  • Silver League -> 300 league points (bottom of Silver league)
  • Gold & Platinum Leagues -> 500 league points (bottom of Gold league)
  • Emerald, Diamond, & Noachium -> 1500 league points (bottom of Emerald league)

This change will still encourage players to grind back up to their highest league, while solving all of the problems listed above.

I have nothing to add, I think Fishstickers nails every pain-point of the current league reset system perfectly.

I know many players including myself who will be extremely frustrated for a third time if we in the upper leagues are forced back to Gold again. I won't be able to tolerate it a third time.

I have almost no motivation to grind past Platinum if I'm just going to be dropped back to Gold again

yeah the grind also made me not want to play as much to grind all the way back to noachium, and as 1 of the veteran players that has pretty much complete maxed hangar it is totally unfair to everybody in the lower leagues even alot of platinum have a hard time against veterans the gap from plat to emerald+ is just too big

I do understand the idea here and I agree for emerald, diamond and noachium player in the current matchmaking pools.
I think though that if you are just above a matchmaking pool change (ie in platinum in the current system) you should go down the the pool underneath that way players that end in the higher league wouldn't feel trap there to be steamroll until they go down.
Same goes if you leave the game for quite some time it would give you a bit of time before you are back in the higher league giving you time to rebuild your hangar to the new metas

I agree with all of the points. This 100% needs to be implemented, and as been what I've (and many others) been saying since Season 2.

The reset also adds a LOT of un-needed stress due to how the milestone rewards work. In both season 2 and 3 I missed out on the Noachium sticker because pushing that hard in such a short timeframe is just not fun.

The only people who can do that are the ones who bot farmed as pointed out in point 3.

Also, I cannot emphasize enough how truly disastrous it will be if we have another season with the same reset style as Season 2 and 3

I very sincerely hope that the we are not going to have the same season reset for S4 and that the changes proposed here are taken into consideration

I really hope this goes i to effect. If I was just starting out in gold league, and faced noachium hangars I would just quit. I cant imagine the league resets having any good effect on player retention at all

Don't forget to add a rework on milestones.
Unless you want to do it as another thread
Even if we get dropped to emerald some of the players will get tired of the game after grinding those 2500 points in 40 days just to achieve that 1st reward.
It ruins fun and makes you play lots of hours just to get there in time.

I agree with this but rank means nothing when u have bot grinders up there so why care
