#Pursuer nerf, completely changes the play style

I hate the pursuer nerf, completely changes the play style, like 5 seconds stealth would have been nice instead of changing the whole play style
Like the 12 seconds before was way too long but most people where using flames so it's easier to counter but still I get the need to nerf
From my understanding the Pursuer is basically a degraded version of the Loki
My suggestion could be that they revert the ability to what it was originally and make the stealth duration 6-8 seconds
Or 5 for any of u that really hate the pursuer

I think that was largely the point. It's a movement gear ability on a flanker torso; it was never meant to be a frontline assault brawler in the first place.

hollow vault
#

It's meant to sneak into the back lines, not brawl.

The reveal upon weapon firing was a great change, they just need to reduce the time you are revealed for, 4 seconds is far too long.

dim stone

It takes so long for the stealth to come back that it may as well not come back at all. I'd rather have the ability be fully cancelled after shooting and speed up the cooldown based on how much time was left on your stealth.

I think they meant after firing.

Would u think serin flames would be a good replacement

Keep everything like it is, just make the bot untargetable like the griffin is.

Is it level 13?

You are correct. Not sure how I misread it. Probably misclicked when selecting the torso or something.

I was going to make a post about pursuer but as I don't use it anymore I didn't think I should, so been waiting for a post to get my thoughts out./ Pursuers time before invis after shooting is far too long. 4 seconds?! Thats far too long...

In my opinion, it should be the same time it takes to activate the ability (so like 1-2 seconds).

ripe pendant
#

It makes the torso get used as intended, rather than abused by being used as a brawler.

Lot of people trying to figure out how to change the nerf so that they could still brawl with it.

These people are misunderstanding the point of the nerf and the purpose of the pursuer torso and that the very form of usage that they would like to get back is the entire reason for the change.

Rather than thinking of it as a nerf, it would be more accurate to call it a fix. And its working fantastically to restore a balanced diverse field of play.

dim stone
#

I 100% support this change its recent nerf, but I think the stealth should either come back after 1-2 seconds of not shooting or be cancelled entirely and begin cooldown once you start shooting.

Nerf is 👌

real spade
#

No, it is basically a temu Loki

ripe pendant
#

They do totally different things. They are meant for different things.

At this point it feels like the pursuer abusers are willfully refusing to understand or accept that the fact they can't do what they want to with the pursuer is the whole objective of the nerf, and its perfectly done.

If anything, it was gentle because most players agreed that the best thing would have been to make it so if the pursuer is active when you shoot or use any gear that can do damage it just ends and goes to cooldown.

4 seconds restealth is too much
Like I understand the nerf but this changes Pursuer completely and that's my point

#

I didn't find it that hard to counter however it's annoying at times when they run away but I'd rather have a shorter stealth run not some delayed peekaboo
I'd say maybe a 2 sec restealth cuz that's reasonable because 2 seconds in a heat of a fight is a long time but 4 is way too long

ripe pendant
#

You are literally stuck on the idea that a pursuer should ever in any capacity be used in a sustained firefight...

stoic gale
#

Do we read? What is going on here

real spade
#

I'm not saying sustainable, I'm saying it should be usable, better hit and run at least, either short invisibility and being able to fire or what I just suggested a better restealth time
Flankers r not supposed to be sustainable

What I try to say is 2 seconds restealth after u stop shooting because I believe and some other people believe that 4 seconds is a bit too long

#

If u think about it
In a game like this
A few seconds can feel like a long time
So like 4 seconds can feel like an entirety in some situations and in some perhaps not
But 2 seconds I believe would still feel decently long in some situations but not like Ur gonna get cremated by bots but still can get punished if u reveal Urself at the wrong time

turbid lodge
# real spade 4 seconds restealth is too much Like I understand the nerf but this changes Purs...

Honestly I'm surprised it can restealth at all. Being able to restealth is obviously only really relevant if you're looking to fight while your ability is active, which seemed to be the main thing they were looking to get rid of in the first place. If you're using the ability for repositioning and escape, the restealth timer is completely irrelevant (since you won't be firing in the first place).

#

In some ways, it probably would make more sense (and be a slight buff) to just get rid of the restealth entirely, and have the ability just end when you fire your weapons so that the cooldown can start.

real spade
#

Rn it's just a way to sneak up or run away which makes sense, but it's like Loki hollergram ability but without the hollergram if restealth is removed,or am I missing something

#

Jeez my grammar is bad rn

#

I realised I worded the second message wrong so damn

turbid lodge
real spade
#

But the ability is better for running away is my point
Because sending a hollergram can trick an enemy, but simply going invisible is not that great
Sneaking up, Pursuer would be better, situational is the way I'm thinking rn

turbid lodge
#

Yeah, I'd agree that Loki can be better for escape, and pursuer can be better for sneaking up before a surprise attack. Neither requires your ability to be active once you've started attacking, though.

real spade
#

I'd say restealth for escape

#

Hit and run

#

Is what I'm getting at

#

If they put it as 4 seconds then it's pointless

I don't really care about the pursuer. I'm just disappointed that every match is now a campy sniper match. I wasn't usually the pursuer player on my team, but I appreciated their role. Now they're gone. 😥

ripe pendant
#

Or rather, the role can only be filled by those who are skilled at skirmishing and escaping after getting a fair kill. As opposed to just anyone that can shoot a helpless target that doesn't even know what direction the attacks are coming from.

random chasm
ripe pendant
#

I wouldn't disagree with the idea that flank attacking is the highest risk highest skill requirement position in any competitive combat game, or even in real life war. If you want to play that role yes, you have to be good at it. If not, find a role that works better for you. There shouldnt be a game breaking crutch just so low skill players can fill a high skill position. Because the result is 4 invisible murder bots jumping into a group of people, killing them all, and going back to safety all without anybody being able to see them or target them with anything. Then they do it again.

random chasm
#

Why do you think your argument works one way and not the other? Shouldn't those that choose to snipe, just like you say, only be the ones skilled enough to deal with the invisible flamers? 🤔

The problem is, just like you said, everyone is finding a role that works better, and its campy sniping.

Don't get confused. I don't care about the pursuer. I don't really use it. What I can about is rock paper scissors. And if they are going to nerf paper, expect everyone to start playing rock. Why should I play scissors anymore? No one players paper now. Might as well play rock too.

Me personally, I've been playing mostly midrange anti-flanker stuff. But I climbed the leagues with Zeuses, so I'll be fine. I'll just out Zeus them.

But when everyone complains about snipers and Norciums, you'll be there to set them straight, right?

inner tiger
real spade

Snipers have an insane advantage due to map

#

But yeah lighter mechs can get the job done good if yk what Ur doing, finding Ur play style and skill isn't that hard

ripe pendant
#

At the higher ranks im not seeing the camping meta you mention at all. The maps are not huge, so the midfield is filled with close range fighting and just behind that is the mid range and snipers area, aka friendly spawn because the map doesn't go any further back. They aren't camping, there's just only 2 or 3 places to attack from that aren't within literal jumping distance of the enemy spawn so they dont have a huge range of choices.

Snipers are not a problem, and if they are camping TOO hard we usually just poke them to keep the pressure on so they cant shoot comfortably and by the end of the game they have 2 kills 3 assists, and all their bots left, while their whole team is dead.

Only faced the DAI Paige group twice in the last 2 days but they had a good fight with us. Maybe they weren't scared of us.

To be fair, turtling up is legit tactics, regardless of where on the battle field it takes place. Hating on it and using the buzzword "camping" to imply an inherently negatively quality in the players using this tactic would be like saying Michael Jordan sucked at basketball because he put more focus on organized play with his team than solo bombing the basket.

random chasm
#

You could just be saying that because you feel defensive, as evidenced by you not liking the word camper despite it being a common gaming term, or just to support your argument with an anecdotal fallacy. I have no idea.

I can't attest to whatever is going on in Noachium right this moment. I have no idea who's up there, but I doubt the player base there right now is a good representation of what it is usually like.

Since the season reset, I haven't been playing as much, so I'm not super sweat level right now. I see plenty of the players that I'm familiar with playing in Noachium down here with me still. So I don't really consider essentially saying 'not up here in my league, scrub' to be a good argument right after a season reset. I'm playing many of the same players I usually do. I'm sure that will slowly start to decrease if I don't grind the ladder at some point, but it's true right now.

Snipers are not a problem, and if they are camping TOO hard we usually just poke them to keep the pressure on so they cant shoot comfortably.

I'm a solo player. I don't experience this "we" you speak of. Rando Calrissian has his own game plan that I have no control over, but I don't mind that, it's actually more fun to me in a way.

I actually agree, snipers aren't an issue. They aren't OP, and it doesn't mean they'll win. The way you deal with them is exactly what you said and it's even doable with randos.

The thing I am complaining about, you just stated yourself...

random chasm
# ripe pendant At the higher ranks im not seeing the camping meta you mention at all. The maps ...

by the end of the game they have 2 kills 3 assists, and all their bots left, while their whole team is dead.

That's exactly it. By the end they have a bunch of bots left. Now I have to chase them down being careful the three triple treb players sitting in spawn behind some rocks can't pop up and one shot me, until the timer expires. Not exactly riveting gameplay.

I don't care about the sniping itself. I can countersnipe with the best of them. However, I don't want to spend the entire timer of a last bot standing where the MVP gets 220 impact since everyone has to 'poke' instead of fight all game because there are no invisible lunatics running around. On top of taking longer to complete dailies, it's less credits and less pilot xp per match and now those matches take longer. This makes players MUCH less likely to play more matches after their dailies are done, myself included. The rewards/min is way down. But I can see how that's not a concern for players that bought all the premium currency pilots and credits they needed long ago.

Warp rush and and new mode, still great. If they want to sit there and snipe, whatever, the match will end faster. Deathmatch is slower, but the impact is still decent since the non-campers can respawn their bots and move things along.

random chasm
# ripe pendant Only faced the DAI Paige group twice in the last 2 days but they had a good figh...

I don't think that is a good analogy at all. Not even remotely close. No one is saying sniping means you suck. At least I don't think so.

A better analogy would be if they made dunks and layups worth 1 point instead of 2 because some players were impossible to guard. Assists would take a big hit, there'd be a lot less double-doubles and almost no triple-doubles, and the game would be overall less exciting as no one goes hard in the the paint for a layup or dunk.

Ive seen non pursuer users make very strong use of the pursuer torso, just to make a point, by using it to totally jump somebody unsuspecting and then relying on their own skill, planning, and maneuvering ability to escape.

It just takes practice in a skill group that isnt possible to develop when shooting safely from invisibility.

Its understandable that some people might suddenly feel overwhelmed and like there's nothing they can do but the truth is that the rest of us have been practicing getting into fights and escaping with our lives all along and that its a skill you only develop through time, practice, and getting blown to bits.

Confused and struggling former pursuer abuser today, formidable and skilled opponent tomorrow. Its possible, we all did it, dont give up.

#

not relevant to the current conversation, but the title of this thread still gets the topic so wrong, pursuer change was not supposed to be a 'nerf', it was intentionally a rework as how it worked in the past was infuriating and a little broken, especially for bot farming

#

they just also made the new rework not as strong as it could be because no1 wants 2 different pursuer metas back to back

#

its smart play by them

#

if they wanted the reworked one to be better, they could simply reduce the time it takes to re-invis after shooting a weapon

#

maybe a season or two from now it can come back to the meta without being annoying as shit on day1

People absolutely fell off after this item was nerfed. The fact it made garbage players good shows how over powered it was. The nerf was warranted and well received from anyone who was not completely abusing the mechanic.

Surprising how Varangian’s 20 second cooldown has been going under the bus for how strong it is

Personally I'm loving the pursuer now because so many people are running snipers. No one expects the torso cloak anymore, so you can just run up and blow them up before they react.
