Before update:
Solo queuing in Gold was punishing, but the reward of beating grouped up teams was well earned. Physics were slower, the mechs felt more realistic to the opening trailer. While yes the vortex/noricum was cancer but there were ways around them. Mech were squishier which allowed sniper play to have an effect on every match and every map on par with the burst fire flamer and shotgun maniacs. Lightweight sniper weapons still had a usage despite being the weakest of the long range weapons and were therefore viable to be used.
After update:
Solo queuing in silver rank now is incredibly punishing. Wins feel more like scraping by on one leg and missing most of the rest of you. Losses against obviously grouped up teams is incredibly one-sided and that's not taking into account the levels of their mech in comparison to your own.
The mechs move at a much more fluid, and thusly a much faster rate. I love the new and improved thruster system. Im able to actually scale buildings and get momentum for map traversal.
Given the increased armor I've noticed it's much more difficult to pin down a team with sniper fire, and rewards burst fire weaponry and numbers to barrel through an enemy team or a capture point.
The new Titan Volta is really cool, and it has a rather unique toolkit with its movement and looks. Granted, I haven't upgraded it heavily I can't say it isn't without its own drawbacks vs leveled mechs and pilots who know how to use tactics and brute teamwork to overcome.
Vs Alpha: It's still a sitting duck vs alpha's orbital death beam and a magnet for their missile barrages when stuck in inopportune areas of maps.
Vs Matriarch: yea nah its saving grace is shutting down modules BUT when face to face it's scrap against Mateiarchs dual back cannon primary.
Vs Grim: I've killed it after surviving the module shutdown duration but barely and that's combining the warp scythe and Ripper in conjunction with each other respectively.
