I performed a test with 3x level 3 scatters, time to kill Alpha's right shoulder at 50m. one test from multiple different angles, and another test from the same angle just slightly different spot on the same shoulder module, and the results were that the scatter's performance were quite unreliable. is this how scatters are supposed to function?

Thank you for reporting it, Fishstickers! Let me check with the team on that

@sour ridge @ruby crow I've done some testing, and the damage seems to be directly related to how much of the ring passes through the part.
This can be tested by taking a single Scatter weapon on a bot.

If just the tip of the ring passes the part (tested on the titan's arm) I got 750 armor damage, for about 20% of the ring it was 1,499 damage, and about 40% of the ring gave me 2,248 damage, and about 60% of the ring hitting the arm dealt 2,997 damage.

With all of these numbers I was sure to check that they were ONLY hitting the arm.

I think this might be an intentional feature of the weapon, given the unique projectile shape and the "Rare" classification of the weapon (iirc a Dev said Rare items are more unique and specialized).

thanks for the insight! I tried it and was able to replicate what you were talking about

I was able to reproduce in armor damage: 750, 1499, 2248, 2997, 3746, (4495), 5244, and the maximum reproducible armor damage of 5993 as stated on weapon's description on the titan Alpha's shoulder in testing grounds, although it seems extremely difficult to realistically hit these higher numbers especially the maximum 5995 armor damage, especially in real game.

additionally, based on how this projectile works, it also seems to do even worse on robot modules due to their smaller module sizes and the size of the shatter's projectile. it seems to cap out at 2997 armor damage on a defender bot's shoulder in testing grounds (I was able to get 3746 once at a certain angle, but I wasn't able to replicate or record it).

It seems each scatter shot produces 8 sonic projectiles, each dealing roughly ~749 armor damage or ~480 shield damage at level 1. Unlike most of the other BLAST weapons, scatter does not do any splash damage. Its damage is capped at its stated weapon stats per shot, but can often be limited by various factors including distance, target surface area (smaller bots would take less focused damage than bigger titans), trajectory angle (aiming from the front, side, above), target protrusions (aiming for shoulder, but it also hits the leg), etc.
