Which tags matter more, the top or bottom one? Or do we still not even know if they make a difference in score? Lol. So the first pic is what I have submitted, 2nd is the tags for it. And then the 3rd one, I like this outfit better, but it has less Cinderella tags. Do you think if I submit that one it will make much of a difference?

Oh, also was thinking about adding a few bubbles scattered around (not sure if I would put anything in them), yay or nay??🤔🤔

From my understanding, tags impact your base score and also maybe how frequently you show up in voting? I say go with the outfit and pose you like best. Definitely add bubbles!

I think the 3rd is a lot more pleasing to the eye and that tends to matter most

The tags, including bonus tags, can naturally increase your base score. Anecdotally, ive gotten good scores with low tags and "bad" scores with high tags. Voting is such a toss up. I agree with Joy - submit what you love.

it's filled but balanced. It has the element of symmetry which voters like, it feels like everything goes together very well and it really looks like you put in a lot of effort as well.

I wanted to do a stair to the palace kind of thing... I really love how it turned out, although I think the "emptiness" of the stairs and the fact you can barely see the castle and all the details I put around it, might cost me my 4k streak. But who knows...

Did you try put the castle closer to the stairs? Also, you can put some candles or lily pads if you have them. Or that glowing flowers from the eternity isle. These are just only suggestions though.

If you are fine with it like that, it's fine. It still looks pretty.

You can also try a different angle and see how it would look like.

You wouldn't say but it's pretty much as close to the stairs as I could get it. Ended up putting it a bit more back so I could add a lantern and some flowers n crystals to the front of the caste but it doesn't make much difference on how visible it is.

The thing is - "on theme" for this particular photo means literally any outfit period. Its more like a freestyle challenge. But the name of the challenge makes people immediately think cinderella, which is why you see a ton of folks leaning ball/ballgown.

Its the same way that for the "top it all off" hat challenge, people refused to vote for crowns or mickey ears, because "hat" was a required tag and those arent hats. Even though crowns/tiaras were literally in the theme description

I see what you mean. The thing is, I can understand why many of us wear ballgowns for this challenge, particular the Cinderella one if you have it. When you think of Bibbidi Bobbidi, what's the first thing that comes to mind? It's most likely Cinderella because of the Fairy godmother being in the movie (unless you don't watch or know about the movies). So while yeah, the outfit challenge is freestyle, the name of the challenge itself is a reference to the fairy godmother, which is of Cinderella. And when you think of Cinderella, a ball/ballgown is another thing that comes into play.

As for the employee of the month, if it wasn't for the tags and perhaps the props that goes around monster Inc, it would be just about that, an office/workplace type of theme. Although, when you think of monster Inc, you think of the factory/company that Mike and Sulley worked at, so I can also understand why monster Inc was related to that theme.

While I agree with you, again, when you think of the name of the challenge, the fairy godmother comes to mind which in turn, Cinderella comes into mind, which in turn the ball comes into mind as well. I am just explaining the thought process behind it. The description said if you was to ask the fairy godmother one wish about an outfit you want, what would it be? Like I said, it could be any outfit since it's what the description said. But like I explained before, the thought process behind it leads many people to go that ballgown way. For me personally, I just love ballgowns, dresses and dressing up as a princess in general. You don't have to do that. How you do your Dreamsnap is up to you solely and what you like.

And you make very good points. I am not disagreeing with you at all. I am explaining that unfortunately, because that, many people will gravitate towards particular things in Dreamsnap, which can really stinks at times because many creative takes and creative references has been overlooked because of it. Like many people don't take time to really look at and understand the dreamsnap design.

There is a toggle in camera mode to turn off Touch of Magic items you could try. If you have custom designs anywhere within the camera frame (even behind things or another biome away) the camera will know it and prevent you from submitting

I don’t know where to go to make my snap this week. We can’t get a bunch of villagers on the floating islands unless I use the Christmas market hut thing? And I still can’t trap villagers in 🤣 only been playing since day one, early release.😬🤦🏻‍♀️

Did you do the camp event? You can also use the bonfire to hail characters. But correct - cant trap them and fast travel back to the valley because it functions the same as fast travel between maps.

I just used fhe market thing like 15 times until I had basically everyone on the island and then got in the position I wanted to be in and waited patiently for people to join me haha 🤣

You can! When you are at the floating island and go to map, then exit the popped up fast travel menu. Open the villagers menu on the left.
Most villagers will be grayed out. Select them to turn their images in full colour and it should teleport them to your floating isle, next to the well.

(Villagers that are on scheduled activities like scrooge, remy's, or their home will not be teleported to the island though)

Alternatively you can put their homes on the island to summon them, however when doing quests, having homes on the island can break your game, so that's not recommended.
If you really want to use that method (because you need characters that are in their house for example), then make sure you create a back up before doings so and transferring the homes back to the valley as soon as you took the picture.

I honestly find working with the floating islands a blessing related to villagers. Because there will only be character that I invited in.
I tried many times with the main valley to ban the villagers I don't want through the menu but for some reason really just doesn't work. Even after exiting and re entering the valley/game there will always also be villagers I grayed out.

Listen, the scoring in Dreamsnap can be so random. I have seen elaborate and beautiful pics get lower scores while the more simple ones would get higher score, even 4k sometimes and vice versa. You kinda have to start reaching to a point where you start to care less about the score simply because of the voting in Dreamsnap being random. Still create pics that you love and enjoy the process.

So so random! When I look at the top 3 of last challenge I feel like 2 deserved it, but then one I'm like

It does bug me though that it gets so blurry towards the back so fast. I see so many pictures with way more crispy backgrounds and I don't understand what I'm doing wrong 😅
Even already switched to pc to get better pictures than on switch but still it gets so blurry 😢

In the 2nd camera mode if you pick the far right filter it will make the background not blurry, but it changes the colours. If you use the 3rd camera mode and swing the camera back around to the front of your figure, the background stays crisp. But, it also cuts out some of the sky. You can zoom in and out and move side to side, up and down in 3rd camera mode till you find the happy spot. Play with it a bit and see what you can do.

^^^^ the 2nd camera mode blurs on most consoles, except switch. Likely because the switch already has shoddy graphics to begin with.

Yeah I got the tip of the filter when I still played on switch, and I tried but couldn't find any of the filters to give a sharper background. But that's probably why.

For me a lot of patience and yelling at the screen when they misbehave 😅
Sometimes I trap them in and give them very little space to move. Sometimes I only fence around the area.
And then the waiting game begins.

In this one I trapped in Jack and merlin behind the stands and waiting for one of the other villagers to come "buy" something.
Olaf is in hang out so he wouldn't move.

Literally what I did was try to get Anna and Elsa together and a bonus kristoff and olf but Anna was addicted to the restaurant and elsa was a home body when I brought back Anna and it repeats I got to mad that I was like screw it so I just got a picture with elsa

Oh yeah if they are both scheduled to be in a building than you often can't get both.

In case one is at home, you can make the other your buddy and then go in and out of the house a few times until the other spawns in front of their house.

If both are in buildings there is a single trick to getting them both outside.

But you have to have a dreamstyle for it to work.

Buddy person 1. Apply dreamstyle to person 2 (make sure its not their remy or scrooge time because they won't spawn that way) and then trap both.

Works for the single map only. Cannot be done on the islands. However the islands are nicer because you can control who does and doesn't spawn there

It worked for me. Maybe he's not close enough to the others? You need to have him as close as you can while still not in the pic. Also, make sure the others are close to him on the other side of the camera. I prefer Hades to Jack. This is with Hades behind the camera

Yeah jack is behind the camera. This picture is taken out of the camera mode so you can see that she doesn't respond to him. (Jack is positioned in such a way that he's not visible in camera mode but visible when not in camera mode, so basically as close as possible)

I know you want to include everything in your pic, but sometimes you can't. I'd try to get it straight on with your lights in the back instead of on an angle. Also, for setting up future snaps, go watch some YouTube videos. MrStarInSky has weekly inspiration videos as well as overall tips. Probably Senpai and Serroh also have lots of vids on it as well. MrStarInSky has a website at starlightdreamers where you store/show off your pics every week, see others' results and ask for feedback. It's fun to look back and see how far you've come since your early snaps

You can actually very easily summon villagers to the floating islands! When at the island, go to map, exit the fast travel menu, open the menu on the left with the characters and select the ones you want... and poof they appear at your well 😉

Oh my gosh, this would have saved me so much trouble with the Frosted Fashions snap. I used a summoning item trying to get Anna and Elsa on my floating island and ended up with a huge crowd in a makeshift prison, luring the ones I wanted outside the fence one at a time. It was hilarious but tedious 😂

The DreamSnap scores make so little sense to me. Was just scrolling through my results from previous weeks...this week, I scored 64 and earned 4k. But in the Future Visions one, I scored 78.87 and earned 1200. I guess where you place matters far more than score?

If you're worried about the wings, you could turn your character a bit. (Start taking the picture with your camera turned a bit and then while in this mode turn back to this position) so your character faces a bit more t to the right of your picture. I've noticed with these wings they become more visible when your character is a bit more turned.

But in general it's an amazing picture and I think it will also do greatly the way it is now.

my golden fairy, i wanted to use the well in mine as its where the magic is , and thought it does not get used much in dreamsnaps , with being able to use the islands with lots of space, i can now use it in them when i need a magical touch ,

I think I may have seen it wrong. Trying again myself, it seems to be more about if there's something behind your wings that's blurred or not (because it's close by enough)...
Which is a lot more difficult of an adjustment

I probably just had something behind my wings when turned, which made for me to think it's more visible when turned.

It really depends. I sometimes use an existing build in my valley and add some stuff depending on the theme. I will also use a DreamSnap as an excuse to finally design an area I haven't done much to in my valley/EI/vale.

For example, this week I did this in my Beanstalk Marsh. I'll work on expanding it out to decorate the full biome.

But also, now that the floating islands exist, I do have one that's just for setting up DreamSnaps when the design isn't something I want in my regular biomes.

I'm not too familiar with his and Sally's franchise and whilst they seem nice to have around I wanted my forgotten lands to be more fantasy mythical than Halloweeny. So once we get a forgotten lands island I can make them a proper spooky forest there >:3

I tend to not decorate as densely as most dreamsnap pics due to lag, but hopefully that issue will get less severe as I start moving characters into DLC biomes to help stabilize my basegame + as Gameloft hopefully optimizes the game more (ik the new EP still lags bad)

Been waiting for diagonal paths & fences to redo some of my decorating, so maybe that will help to motivate me make some areas look more photogenic too >:3

Yeah the only decorating I have really done in my Valley has been either for quests or DreamSnaps. I have a lot of partially dismantled remnants of old DS settings scattered around. The floating islands have been awesome for an easy place to set up and tear down scenes though!

But sometimes I can get super annoyed of not being able to move freely and having deco "in the way", which result in tearing everything down too. Deco is nice, but in a lot of quests and events unpractical so I never did a fully decorated valley.

Honestly, the scoring in Dreamsnap can be so random. I have seen great pictures get scored lower than the ones that took less time and vice versa. It's best to reach to a point where you are starting to care less about the score.

If you don't want to go that route, I am a bit more towards the dragon since the expression does add to the pic. However, perhaps have your wings be more visible or put on a bigger wing so that it can be more noticeable.

In my experience the voting isn't as random as I would have expected. I've been participating in DS since it's inception. While RNG and those who vote blindly just for the moonstones definitely add a degree of unpredictability to the process I still manage to consistently get 4k just about each week. 85% of the time maybe.

I think the time of day is good, but this is one of those instances where the PCs forced DoF hurts the pic. You're looking at something, but it's all blurry. Either using a filter to remove the blur or bringing objects closer to you might work. As a PC player myself I wish I could turn off DoF at times.

There are times where I visualize what I want my dreamsnap to look like but in reality it's not the same. I usually like to use existing backdrops for outfit challenges to put emphasis on the outfit and beasts castle seems perfect, but the lighting. Ugh. On the plus side I finally found a use for the pencil prop 🙂 Should I keep the backdrop or try and create my own?

I love the idea of the paper jacket with the pencil! If you keep the background I'd suggest maybe choosing a tighter crop so there isn't as much darkness on the sides and more emphasis on the outfit. Not positive it'll solve your concern but it could be worth a try, especially knowing a lot of people vote on smaller screens and one as wide as this will have to shrink a fair bit to be placed next to another voting option on the screen

I get 4k roughly 85% of the time and it's rare that I ever submit anything busy. In fact it's often the busy ones I submit that don't get 4k. I don't think the way people vote on starlight is equal to how they vote in game.

This. I've done couple reference's, and they didn't do very well. First one people like really LOVED in FB and discord, but if the voter don't know the reference or get it in a second, they won't vote for it unless it catches the eye on some other way.
My second reference did better but not 4k worthily, but there reference wasn't the thing that you needed to know when the theme was so spot on.

It's decent and fits the theme even if they didn't get the reference. But, if it was against a brighter samekind of picture while voting, people tend to pick the brighter one cause most of people don't look pictures long while voting.

Example: I really loved my Fairy-submission and had fun doing it, but it didn't rank so well that I thought it would - so I get that disappointment. But if you had fun, bad feeling goes away faster too 🤗 I'm proud I did that one, got creative etc.

Other way example; I did beautiful "princess week" snap, i didn't have so much fun while doing it, spent so much time with it and that didn't ranked very high: and because that felt like work to do that one, I felt so bad (way too long, it supposed to be fun game after all).

And honestly speaking, as great as it is to get the free moonstones, if a person doesn't feel like doing a Dreamsnap, it's ok to not participate. Sometimes, one of the reasons we get burnt out more quickly is because we tend to put too much pressure and unnecessary expectations and goals on ourselves when it comes to games like this since we see how far and great the person next to us has gotten into the game. At the end of the day, you go at your own pace and do things in your own way. Even if it means not doing a Dreamsnap challenge that you are not too sure about.

ToonTown was a game, and is also an area of some Disney Parks, but overall it can also just be used to name the "cartoon world" of the classic characters like Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, etc. Anything that matches that classic cartoon look works!

You can definitely see the "toony" influence in a lot of the decor in-game, like how the angles are soft or the lines are curved. Bright colors etc

The whole point of Dreamsnaps is interpretation and creativity. All they actually have to do is meet the tags and go from there - you get 300 stones just for entering. Risking people being banned/restricted and filling up reporting of ones that actually break the rules is just....rude at best, evil at worst. If you don't like it, if you don't think it matches the theme, just....don't vote for it? Skip it?
