Yeah I wish we could like tell the villagers where to go. And set things off like fireworks while in the camera mode. It would make this much easier it's when you get the Pixel dust I think is what it is? To level up after doing so many dreams naps that you get the statue. It's like leveling up but specifically your dream snap level is going up. I believe it's the last level

Yes! It would make Dreamsnap so much easier! And it's interesting to know that Dreamsnap has levels. It's been a long while since I played. Like a couple of months lol.

It definitely would! Yes it has levels! You get rewarded at every level just like the friendship quests. I know you get a pair of dream snap loafers, dream snap jacket, dream snap pants, and of course the trophy. But I actually don't remember what the rest were I think one of them may have been like 500 moonstones? Don't quote me on that though 😅

I mean it😊. It does really look nice. Celebration doesn't always have to mean fireworks, huge attractions and multiple lights. It can also be something as simple as a party with friends (like your pic shows).

I love it, also is one lamp on and one lamp off or is that the lighting from the sun? If you have the snow clouds you could try to add some right in front of you for a cool effect if you wanted, but this is an amazing picture

I can't believe I actually got 1,500 moonstones for my dreamsnaps annual celebration entry. The most I have ever got before now has been 900. I'm ecstatic!

I wanted to share my submission for Valley Views. Originally it was just going to be this beautiful landscape scenery but that didn't fill the tag requirements so I tried to use as many non out of place looking items as I could to fill the required tags to be able to submit. All in all still happy with my submission though

Does anyone know how big the effects of the tags are?
I had a slight preference for 1 picture but it had 38 tags less than the other picture. Both were above 100 tags though.
Does it still matter at that point?

anecdotally, tags only need to be double the minimum or so (for decor challenges) to have any major effect on score - the top submission for dreamlight art gallery on playstation had all 4 tags in the 10s

Yeah the hundreds of tags in no way enhance score. Also anecdotal but ive had tags in the hundreds give me 1200 moons and tags in the teens give me 4000.

If it were as simple as "shove every single tag you can into the photo" everyone who creates junkyards would get 4k weekly.

I’m trying to make all the items using the time ending table but can’t get some of the fragments because they never appear. I check every day and still haven’t gotten any of the Broken Lollipop or the Green Stone Carving. I’m at level 4.

Hey there! This thread is for discussing DreamSnaps so you will have better luck asking in #spoiler-chat or #dreamlight-help for other game questions in the future.

Having said that, check the timebending section of your Collection screen since it will help you see which fragment is available on the day you check (only one is available per day and it's not the same for everyone). Hanging out with a character from the universe matching the item you want can also help it spawn more often. Hope this helps!

🤗Perfect. If you want, I don't want to seem intrusive, I advise you to move the avatar more to the center of the photo, perhaps surrounded by precious stones. Plus I recommend taking a brighter photo. You can do this by changing the time (in the graphics section, you can change the time, but it is only useful on a graphic level, as it is written it does not create problems for the game) or with filters. You can use both graphical editing and filters. 🤗🌸

So just a thought I have but I want to see what others opinions are (people who are actually affected by this) I feel like the Devs could do more to even the playing field in dreamsnaps for black players/players with darker skin because several times I have come across submissions that are night shot which looks amazing but the player hard to see due to no adapted lighting (by this I mean adapted lighting of environment not changing skin colour) this doesn't put me off voting these submissions but it does make me wonder how many people lose out on votes because of that, something that's not thier fault nor in thier control to change it either. Like I say I am not black so it would be nice to hear from black players how they feel about this as ultimately their feelings on this are most important as the people affected. I did consider submitting a ticket highlighting but I felt like that wasn't my place to do that so I havent. But yeah I wanted to hear how people felt on this in here.

Don't get me wrong, there are lots of very impressive entries that follow the same formula, but another facet of creativity is thinking outside the box, and it's always refreshing to see that part of the feature celebrated! What time is the rewards for dreamsnaps supposed to be ready? I moved a few months ago from the west coast( California) to east coast( Tennessee) and even though I have changed my Xbox to reflect the time zone it is currently 12:30 in the afternoon and I still don’t have my results.

The game apparently stays on whatever time zone you created it in, even if you relocate, but I'm west coast and have received my results already. Sometimes I find that I need to check my mailbox a few times/reload in and out of the game to get them to show up.

To elaborate a bit more, I believe that they can arrive any time after the weekly refresh but the game doesn't initialize it (as in, begin to process and deliver) until you actually log in. You can check the status from the DreamSnaps screen and sometimes mine will be in my mailbox even if there isn't a flag notification on it

I do want to emphasize what Joy said - the game remains on the tomezone it was created in. So your game will forever live in PST and be 3 hours behind your actual time. Just something to keep in mind for resets as well as spawn times

You can adjust the time manually instead of waiting, if that's what you mean. Though only in 1 hour increments. (Settings-> Graphics -> Time of day offset)

I'm just wondering, now when (almost) every console is in cross-play and then PS and other consoles are in one votin, if they've changed the reward system too? 🤔 Competition will be tougher when there's more submission. But just thinking 🤔

The percentage of who gets what should stay the same. It will increase the submission pool so it will feel a bit more difficult, but I plan to vote a little extra to make up for the extra volume of submissions

@zenith coral What I like about your second pic isn't necessarily the sparkles -- I think the purple line is distracting and having timebending stuff strewn around to fill space wouldn't make me want to vote -- but that the stuff in the foreground disguises the edges of the pathing and the "realities" of building it. That's also what stands out to me about the third pic, in the gazebo. It's really beautifully put together and has a sort of illusion of vastness in it, using those topiaries and then the background kind of looking like distant hills, so that you can't glance at it and go "Oh yeah, I know where they took that pic".
Obviously I'm not all voters and I know I'm probably out of the loop, but it's a perspective.

We have somewhat of a tutorial in #1224020000562610369 that'll cover what you need to do. Basically the idea is to create an aesthetically pleasing on-theme photo and hope for the best. You can get inspo on the current theme in #1278414864246771782 or by perusing the starlight dreamer site if you're on there.

Watching some youtube videos on dreamsnap designing also helped me immensely, so that may be worth a shot if you're a visual/follow along hands on learner.

Touch of Magic is the tool that lets you customize furniture and clothing using patterns and motifs. We don't have a full official answer as to why it's disabled for DreamSnaps, but many speculate it's an effort to prevent people from making and using inappropriate designs for their submissions

@jovial bronze if you try to submit a DreamSnap and it says there are Touch of Magic items in the picture, you can try using the toggle in the cameria view to turn them off. The camera can see very dar and through other objects so ever if (for example) you have custom ToM items in your Boutique windows in a totally different biome, if the camera is pointed in that direction it can still prevent your submission from beinf accepted

This is my Submission for “Back to New Orleans”. I just wanted to mention how I got all these villagers involved. I posed in selfie mode with my camera, and then took a trip to the bathroom. When I returned, all these villagers had gathered behind me. I quickly went into furniture mode and trapped them inside the restaurant. It took them a while to disperse throughout the area though.

I just wanted to bring some special attention to the villagers here however:

Regardless of how Merlin and Ursula always don’t seem to get along, they always seem to be around each other.

Anna always seems to be with Elsa! It’s a bit distant, but Anna looks like she is waving to Elsa from across the room. 😁 (it’s actually Anna reaching out to catch a letter, but I somehow caught this motion instead. 😋)

Goofy and Mickey are looking at one another.

Mirabelle and Mulan are looking at the food.

And I couldn’t leave my Forgotten out of this grand occasion. 🥰

Yeah thank you this is helpful. When I searched via images it only shown me the one with the white arched doors and lights, all other pictures were for a restaraunt called the big easy in canary wharf which I suspect wouldn't have been accurate.

The 1920s specifically were the prohibition era in the usa - meaning alcohol was outlawed. To get around it, folks opened jazz clubs to promote music and dancing - and also illegally sell alcohol.

Oswald's house is from the same time period and is actually decorayed as a jazz club inside.

I'm not a huge fan of the row of flowers in the front, but I know others who do it too so I'm sure there are people who like it too.
And having something in the foreground does add more dept to the picture and is generally considered a positive feature. So I don't really know what you should change if anything.

I wouldn't say I'm a stickler, but I do expect to see a bit of the theme. For example, a recent challenge was camping. If I saw photos of someone in a ball gown, I was NOT voting for that one. You don't camp in a ball gown lol And if you put extra effort into the surroundings when it's an outfit challenge, then I'll usually vote for that one over another

@stable charm I understand how frustrating and discouraging it can be to put in work and effort into a Dreamsnap, only to score low on it. Believe me, I know the feeling. The thing is it helps to approach Dreamsnap differently. Do you enjoy doing the challenges? Was it fun in the process? Are you happy or at least content with your pic and design? If all or most is yes, then that's what is most important. It really stinks not getting properly rewarded for the effort you put into. However, at the end of the day, any moonstones is better than no moonstones. Don't let the low score discourage from creating Dreamsnaps and how you love it. Your art won't always be appreciated by everyone unfortunately. But if you love it, that's what important and that's their loss if some people don't understand it and appreciate what you mean. Easier said than done. However, it can help to look at it like that

@stable charm me for example. This was my submission for the hola casita. I really worked at it and love how it came out. Then I saw I got only 600 moonstones for it. I was really hurt by that and almost didn't want to do any more Dreamsnap. Then the people here in this discord are so comforting and sweet. One of them told me that I should do the dreamsnap for my enjoyment first because that's what's most important. They each even told me of times they didn't do well. As long as I love what I design and had fun in the process, that's what is most important.

@stable charm besides, you can always post your submissions here(if you didn't yet) and you will be amaze to find how many people will like your designs. Plus, the more you do Dreamsnap, the more you learn about how to set up and design and get better at it. So don't give up. Like you, I really hope they would fix the scoring in Dreamsnap. In the meanwhile though, just focus on doing it for your enjoyment.

You can use any item you want, though you'll need to use enough items that count for the required tags to submit a photo. I like to pick a spot in my valley that I already like and build around that. I go into the tag in furniture and see what I already own that counts and put it all down then start rearranging until I get a nice little scene. And then I try taking a few photos to see what angle looks best and adjust where things are based on the angle I want to use.

If you're doing outside, you can also play with the lighting in the graphics to see what sun position works best for your design.

Here's the dilemma I'm kind of facing with the current theme: it makes sense to do something outdoors, but I find decorating is even more challenging than usual because there's so much space and I can never find a good balance with placing trees, shrubs, etc. I'd prefer to do indoors, because it's less daunting (and because I know I won't have to wait for it to stop raining to take my picture like I've had to do before 😖). I've looked at other people's entries and haven't yet seen an indoor one. So, what do you guys think? I know it's about having fun, but I'd like to do better with my results than I have the past two weeks, and I'm guessing the preference will lean outdoor over indoor when it comes to voting.

I've definitely done indoor snaps on themes when everyone was doing outdoor and gotten great results. Sometimes it's nice to go against the grain bc everyone's snaps tend to feel kinda samey. I love seeing people really flex their creativity muscles. Go for it if that's where your heart is leading you!

Just some tip:
Dreamsnap it's a photo challenge. So it is wise to play with what angle you want to make the picture. Maybe shoot a test shot to see how everything looks in that composition.

Then based on that you might want to rearrange were the items are placed to make it look like nice in the composition.

Your character will also be in the picture blocking some of the view. So you might need to move some key elements around to make them visible.

I understand how you feel about indoor vs outdoor designs. I am also more comfortable with designing indoors than outdoors because at least I know how much space I am working with. As opposed to outdoor designs, where, like you mentioned, because there is so much more space, I am wondering how much I should put down, where I should put it down, which angle would be good etc. I am going to use myself as a example. Even though I am more comfortable with doing indoor designs, I also try to challenge myself to do outdoor designs as well at times because I feel the more I get used to doing designs outdoors, the better and more comfortable I would get at it. What I am saying is that it's fine to go with what you are better at and more confident doing. At the same time, challenging yourself by doing something that is outside your comfort zone is also a good learning experience. Either is fine.

Also too, I know sometimes looking at other people's entries and see how good their own turn out can be a bit intimidating. How I approach it is that I use other people's entries as inspirations for how I would do my dreamsnap. See what they used and how and try to give your unique twist to it.

You can also put the apple trees around you. That basket of orange flowers, perhaps you can buy more for scrooge and put them around you. You can also add Pluto's stand in full view in your pic. The red trees, yellow bushes, orange bushes etc? You can get more by going to furnitures and then landscapes. You can more them around as well. Another thing, go to furnitures and where you see Dreamsnap at the top? Click on that it it will give the furnitures that you have that made the tags of this week's challenge.

That's one of the beauties of Dreamsnap, you get to tweak and re-design as you come up with more or different ideas until you are completely content with it. That's also why I am so grateful that we can change our submissions as many times as we want.

Without seeing your snaps, I can't give any insight or advice. If you wanna post them here, I can try to offer some thoughts on why one might have out performed the other.

This past week was honestly pretty high competition. I've seen a lot of great photos get lower scores than they may have wanted, because I think a lot of people nailed it which means that less people submitted "bad" photos - this increases the competition.

You submitted a beautiful photo! It may have been similar to a lot of other submissions, which could account for it not receiving as much attention. But it's hard to say. Like I said, in weeks where more people get a good shot than average, I think we just tend to see fewer people getting a score they're happy with.

You never know what picture you might be up against, some might prefer your take on the theme or some might like what the other entry did.
Theres really no knowing for sure, most only spend a few seconds looking at the photos while voting (if that) so all you need to make sure of is that your theme is clean at a glance and not to stress and have fun with it!
Theres lots of people taking part now so the 'competition' can be fierce but what makes it great is seeing everyone's take on the same theme and then how they execute it.
Lighting, on theme, clear visual on outfit (if applicable) and maybe hiding a couple of tags behind some objects and you probably can't do much wrong with that

A good photo isn't a guarantee of a super high score. There's many factors, including what photos yours gets put up against, how many people see it, etc.

If you wanna hear something that might make you feel better: these days, I usually get 1200-4k in my snaps since about May this year.

Before that, my average was 300-900. So the more you do it and the more feedback you get from your friends here, the better chance you have.

And as long as you're having fun, that's what matters most. My snap from the dance party week was my lowest performance in months (900), but I had a great time doing it so I wasn't too bummed.

That is so true and something that I have to learn. At the end of the day, Dreamsnap is a fun way of showing your designs. As long as you love your design and content with it, that's what most important.

I am so sorry to hear that. Your design looks nice and deserves more, believe me. Just know, the scoring will vary from week to week, so don't be hard on yourself, especially knowing that you put effort into it. Don't let that discourage you from doing more Dreamsnaps. It's ok if you feel somewhat disappointed. However, you might get better in the next, who knows. As long as you enjoy doing it and happy/content with your design, that is what's most important.

Again, the scoring varies from week to week. Some weeks, you get higher. Some weeks, you get lower. It's just as it is unfortunately, despite how your design may look(which is pretty btw). The thing is you have to gradually reach a point where you don't put your expectations on the score and how much you get. As someone told me, some moonstones is better then no moonstones.

Yeah, when I was voting for the autumn theme challenge, there were a lot of great designs! I can tell many people love this theme because of the amount of great pics I see. I have fun with it too, so I can see how many love the theme so much that they put forth their best.

Something else too: some people have no rhyme or reason as to why they vote. Some people just vote the left picture each time, the right picture each time, alternate left and right, etc. no matter what they look like, just to get the Moonstones from voting.

So unfortunately there will be many votes you "should" get but don't because you have a left-voter and your picture is on the right. Even if the other picture has nothing to do with the theme.

Look, this is the pic I submitted for the Hola Casita challenge and I got only 600 moonstones. You can imagine how disappointed I was because I worked hard on it. I almost decided to stopped Dreamsnap. Luckily, many people here are sweet and encouraging. One of them told me that when doing Dreamsnap, make sure to do it for myself and that as long as I enjoy doing it, that's what important because not all the time I would do well despite how great the design is. That stands with me since then and try to do focus how it makes me feel.

Whenever I do a dreamsnap, I tell myself that it's free moonstones either way. Some weeks I get 4K moonstones, other weeks I get a few hundred. I just look at them as free moonstones that I wouldn't have had otherwise 🙂

The one thing that I make sure to do is to always try to score pretty high in the necessary categories, while still looking nice. That seems to work pretty well most of the time

For example, this week's categories are Playful, Wondrous, Halloween, and Rustic. So I will fit as many items that fit those themes into my snap as I can without making it look like a cluttered mess lol

I know that the trend is to fill every bit of space possible, and that entries which do tend to get good votes, but for me personally I get a little overwhelmed when they're very busy. I think yours is really nicely composed and you did a great job choosing the components to make the various decor, but it's a bit much for me personally.

However, history has shown that many people prefer full snaps and if that's what you enjoy doing then it's what you should do!

I always try to find a balance of not too empty but not too overcrowded as well. The fireflies will always be one of my favorites lol. I do love the design I made. However, I can always look back and see if other adjustments can be made or is needed.

Hahaha I think it's a great opportunity to use them! I think moving a few of the decorations forward wouldn't be a bad idea as long as it doesn't detract from the overall fiery theme, which is the strength of your snap. Very creative idea!

Ah yes, the strive for symmetry. I know it works well in Dreamsnaps, but I kind of like the hill and the Mickey. I am in the process of moving the decor closer, and soemone on reddit suggested the new fire items in the back, so I'm working on that too. If I do the symmetry though, I might get over 4k, which has never happened to me before haha.

Also kinda wish that thinks like fireworks just keep repeating until you turn it of manually.
I remember for my valley view submission I had to run past serveral of those to turn them on, run up the hill, turn on the last and then only had a few seconds to get the camera angle right. Trying to combine that with the right clouds, and right sunset. Only getting a few attempts per hour. Coming back each hour to try again to get it right...
It was horrible 😅

And the cute little cat in the box will never show on snaps, because when you interact and pops out, it's back in way before I have the chance to make the picture 😢

I love it. There's a chance that you'll get a bit less votes because they ask for the scariest critter, and the rainbow fox isn't necessarily super scary. But it's a very beautiful picture, and most might not even read more than the title "my critters lair"

Yeah, I had a lot of ideas for scary but it just felt like everyone else was doing some variation on the theme and this was what immediately popped into my head. I'm hoping people see it as a break from the crowd in a good way!

And if not, oh well - it was so fun to build! I'm probably leaving this in my Frosted Heights and planning to build a pink candy winter theme around it.

I remembered doing the fireworks for the Disney park challenge and while the effects are great, it was so timed having to turn it on and the ran in time to position myself, get the right angle and the right timing 😩! The fireworks really made me planned out my timing and also the reason I put up multiple. It's even worse when I have gotten everything right and that's when the characters want to start talking or chatting 😩! Like MICKEY, CAN YOU NOT SAY ANYTHING RIGHT NOW, WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A PHOTOSHOOT lol!

I mean, the challenge is a critter's lair. It can come in different designs. Look at Ursula's lair for example, it's still a villainous lair but more like a underwater theme, which your pic is kinda leaning towards.

Yeah it had the "back" tag but that's it. It's best to use items that match as many of the tags from the week as you can apparently (e.g. all the new backpacks from the partnership event hit all 4 this week)

While tags give your score a boost, they arent necessary and they don't boost your score THAT much. Votes still count for quite a bit. One of the mods has done extensive testing with this. From my own anecdotal experience, i usually end up doubling the tags in outfit challenges and my results have ranged from 600 to 4000

My only input is that in voting, anything on the back that is NOT a bag can be construed as "off theme". However, if you love what you're submitting, then submit it. I think it's a beautiful photo.

Yeah, it's a beautiful photo but it's not a bag/doesn't include one so you may be better off saving it for a future theme. Unless you just don't care and wanna submit it bc you love it so much - been there myself and nothing wrong with following your heart!
