So remember when you move Casita to a new biome, the game would freeze? Well if you put Casita in the biome next to the biome that it was placed, then the game is okay..
But it's not just Casita anymore, it's all houses now.

Soo i restarted the game and could progress The Forgotten quest further with no issues.
But... The same "Black" Error occurred when i returned too Dreamlight Valley after the Ending off The Forgotten.

Crashed while decorating I had literally just manually saved. I'd been decorating for about 30 minutes and manually saved 2x in that timeframe. I go back in expecting my decorations to all still be there, as I had just saved, but NONE of my changes had saved and I assume the autosave had been working in that timeframe too. I would love to decorate more on my Switch but these issues make it VERY frustrating.

The most common crashes on Switch in my experience happen when I close the game sometimes. It also happens in-game whenever I want to access my inventory or walk into a building like my house or Remy’s restaurant. 😕

Somehow, my wife was able to find the Forgotten and her game is back to normal. She went back into the dark castle, then back through the portal into the void/dark place. She ran around there for about 5 or 10 minutes, and eventually was able to spot a shaft of light shining down. She went to where the light was shining and found the Forgotten, and was able to finish the rest of the quest without any crashes.

Not just on the Switch, but with other consoles like PC, Xbox, Steam etc. They didn't give us item increase because they said it would cause crashes on switch and we still get them on all platforms. Our Switches are not the issue, the updates are.

I’ve had the game since release and this has always been the case which is why I don’t decorate anymore but with the new quest to decorate the forgotten lands I had too and sure enough after laying just 25 pieces of path it froze as I was exiting decorating and then crashed. So predictable and frustrating that it is still an issue almost a year later. I’m pretty much over the game since the biggest issues I’ve had from the beginning still haven’t been fixed.

I’ve been playing with the new update all day. Hanging out with Fairy Godmother and it will crash for various reasons. Exiting the wardrobe menu was one of the most recent crashes. There doesn’t seem to be a pattern, aside from having Fairy Godmother follow me around for hangout sessions

I had just finished inviting the Forgotten back to the valley during "the remembered" quest and just before them cutscene of the arriving into the valley my Switch crashed. Upon restart the quest is saying to talk to the forgotten but I can't find them anywhere! I hope this gets fixed in the next patch so I can finish this quest. The system crashing during this quest seems to be too common for the Switch players,and we need a way to proceed when it does happen.

Once I rebooted it, it says to go back and talk to the the remembering again but she is no longer in the dark room to talk with anymore.

Crashes are a lot less frequent on switch except when changing the layout/ decorating in furniture mode. This happens on my windows surface book 1 laptop as well but is not as bad. On switch if I’m decorating I would have to exit furniture mode every 5 to 10 items I place or change the location of, but on the windows I can go a lot longer without having to exit furniture mode before it crashes. When the crash happens on windows it will still save a lot of the progress I made, but on switch it will just revert everything back to how it was when I first opened furniture mode.

Hi I was going though the all 16 bottles that I fished out for the green potato potion and as I was doing so my switch crashed half way through interacting with one of the bottles. My switch reset and saying I only have 15 bottles after going through all the fishing spots for about an hour I give up I have no idea where my last bottle is.

PROBLEM SOLVED FOR QUEST The Forgetting! For those whose Switch crashed at the end of the Forgetting Quest and is unable to locate the forgotten, but you have the orb. I have a solution and it WORKED for me! Go back in into the dark castle and run until you can't run anymore then turn around and you'll see the light with the Forgotten and the bookshelf. Go speak to them and do over that part. You'll be able to end it. I did it 3 times before being able to complete the quest because of crashing, but it's DOABLE! Good luck!

Hi all. My game crashed when I was trying to get to the floating island to get the orb of trust. I was all glowy from Ursula's spell. I was in the glade when my game crashed.
When I got back in the game, my whole valley is still dark and messed up, but Ursula and merlin can't help me get glowy again. And Kristoff is wandering around Ursula's cave with his love for Anna gone and Merlin is stuck there too. All I can do is pet my squirrel and submit a ticket to customer support.
Thought I would write here too in case there are any ideas on how to fix this.

Just a suggestion for Switch game crashing since mine isn't crashing as often, but still does. Do not play the game save from your SD memory card. Play the game saved from the console instead. That made a difference with mine to lessen the crashes.

Issue: I finished the dark castle quest and went into the black void thing and finished that part but when I was exiting to the portal my game crashed. I opened it up again and it said talk to the forgotten but the forgotten is no where to be seen or found and the black water void room is empty. I didn’t get the cutscenes and they’re not in their castle, black water void realm, or my valley and I just really wanna finish the quest

And as I'm on the subject of the switch crashing it feels like in this update it's crashing more frequently and I'm loosing items that I've acquired as I didn't get chance to save my progress.

How the crashes occurred: My game crashes almost every time I do a lot in a short amount of time and then open/close a menu or enter a house/loading zone.
- If I’m in the “my touch of magic” too long it’ll crash in it or when I leave it to save my work.
- Moving a lot in furniture mode, especially when it’s moving items to different biomes, it crashes or gets stuck in the saving screen.
3)If I do a lot of mining, foraging, digging, farming, and/or clearing night thorns all at the same time typically crashes it. - When achieving multiple “Dreamlight Duties” and/or “Star Path Goals” in a short amount of time, my game will crash often if I use the button to shortcut to the completed goal from the banner that pops up saying I’ve completed a goal.
Bonus note: It seems it happens more if I have a character following me or have just switch characters following me.

I’m seeing a pattern of crash times on my switch. It seems to crash when one of the villagers are scheduled to go to sleep or wake up. And it crashes when the villagers leave / go Chez Remy or Scrooges Store. How I figure this depending on time of day or night I’m playing that it crashes, I’ll see that some villagers left Remys but some went in. And same with Scrooges Shop. Or the villager I was hanging out with was scheduled to sleep.

I just did an whole quest involving placing furniture. Rearranged my entire Meadow and 60 seconds after leaving furniture mode as I was running it crashed, closed to the unexpected error thing black screen. So of course all my work is gone and I have to do it all again. Honestly it happens often regardless of what I’m doing or where I’m at. To the point that every few minutes I go into settings and manually save my progress. It’s kind of ridiculous. It makes me not want to play anymore (aka- makes me want throw my switch across the room haha) after something like that happens. I’ve tried all the “tips” on what to do to help it not crash, but guess what, it still crashes. Seriously we can go to Mars but no one can figure out how to fix a video game. Come on guys…. Get it together.

Game often “freezes” when giving a character a meal at remys. Able to see and hear the character in the background but the give or cancel never goes away. Game crashes at random and increasing the more I put objects down in the valley. Sometimes has no reason why it crashes at all seemingly.

I think the catalog is what is causing the game to crash on switch. I've noticed that when I started the game around the time it came out last year the game would get laggy the more items I accumulated. Everything I place on the map would take 3 to 10 seconds to load in. The less items I had on the map the better it ran until more items were added into the catalog. It no longer mattered what I had out or put away the game would simply crash if the spawnables spawned on the map. I believe the catalog interface is the cause because when you enter it the villagers used to be heard in the background when the game is loading. Also when scrolling down to clothing and furniture those two take the longest to load. Maybe have the catalog accessable from your house instead?

This graphic has appeared while in windows with choices, such as dialogue with characters, menu, or while accessing storage. I can hear the sound behind this screen but cannot do anything. Remedy is to exit and restart game.
I also experience crashes several times a day that I cannot be more specific about because they seem to be random. I’ve crashed even doing something like just walking through the valley. I now periodically save my game, generally about every 5 minutes if the game has not already auto saved , hoping it would help but it hasn’t.
If it matters, I only play docked. My daughter, who plays exclusively handheld has had zero issues. I play on animal crossing edition switch, she has an OLED.
