Hi, after I placed the scrapbook from the Goofy quest, my character spawned in front of the book when I exited the furniture placement menu. Then the left and right joysticks stopped working. Additionally all the villagers dissapeared and the map was did not show anybody. I was able to teleport to the well, but when I spawned at the well I still couldn't move. Then I opened my inventory and went to the furniture screen again and the game got stuck in that screen. I couldn't exit.

I was playing the game as normal (on the console without an external controller) when it crashed. Ever since it crashed, I am unable to play on the actual console. The right joy con will not work in regards to B A X Y, the home button works fine. & I can press B A X or Y outside of the game. But the minute I’m in the game, it stops working. The joy con is connected to the system & this did not happen until the game crashed for me. It’s working for other games. I’ve already tried to restart my system, disconnect & reconnect the joy con. Nothing has worked.

I don’t have a video or anything as I’m at work but my girlfriend and I have been playing dreamlight valley, and it kept crashing and now our switches (2 docked switches and 1 lite) have a switch error screen and we are unable to even hard reset our switches and will need to get them repaired. Just got a crash trying to view Touch of Magic designs. It worked fine at first for me to go in the Customize menu and i selected a shirt i had made with no problems. Still having loads of crashes, about every 20-30 minutes. Placing furniture, viewing the map, trying to get to the save screen, entering/exiting buildings, giving menu item to customers at restaurant, after completing a quest, harvesting vegetables from garden, selling items at a stall, putting things into chests, using touch of magic, and sometimes just walking. Pretty much everything causes a crash, but at random. As in sometimes i can put stuff in chests no problem, others it crashes multiple times in a row. There doesnt seem to be a pattern, but its very frequent.

Ever since the last update I have not been able to customize ANYTHING. this includes modifying existing designs and creating new ones. I am able to go into customization and create or change something but as soon as i try to exit it crashes. Every single time. I tried again today and i am still having this issue. I wasnt able to wear any of the cool halloween designs because of this.

I’ve lost so much progress in the game that I have started saving manually approximately every 3-5 minutes. That way when it crashes I don’t lose as much. I basically save before and after doing anything new or walking into any entrance/exit.
All very random. One new thing yesterday though was that the game completely froze on the screen. I usually get the black screen error message. This time it froze like a picture.
My character was walking towards Scrooge’s store and the whole screen froze. Not one single button in the game worked but I could hit the home button and go to all my Switch functions. So it’s definitely just the game itself. I couldn’t save or exit or do anything so I had to select a new game and let the Switch close down DDV that way.

This is a new one for me. Stuck on fast travel menu while going from forgotten lands to the beach. I landed there fine but the menu wouldn’t go away and I couldn’t press much to fix it. I tried to travel to some realms to see if that would work and then it wouldn’t let me go back to any of the other wells. So here's the other thing I deal with all the time. I'll be in the menu working out my quests, supplies or rewards only to see this when I exit. Sometimes all I have to do is refresh the screen sending my character somewhere with the map, that most times does not fix the problem.

So I actually bought this game a second time on the PC, so I wouldn’t have to deal with the switch crashes anymore. I thought after the update it would get better but it hasn’t. This is also what happens to me! Usually when taking a photo. Other crashes are freezing when I try to save. 3-4 times during an hour or so of play.I did report this bug on the developer’s website. New thing is that crafting tab for fences or paths is empty - no craft able items. I check several times during play. 2 times over several times, it suddenly was present, but after I crafted and exited, the game crashed. I also reported this to the software developer Make sure you do that, as the Discord is collecting info, but they did encourage us to contact gameloft. This game has such potential; I hope they get the Switch issues managed.

I was on the + menu earlier and got a phone call. It crashed on the menu, I wasn’t even touching the controller at the time. That was a new one for me, crashing from being idle. I’ve taken to keeping track the last week or so to see if there was a pattern but the main thing seems to be just pressing the + button for me.
I truly am enjoying the game and have my fingers crossed for a fix soon. 🤞🏻

Yes the photo crash is quite bad, it seems to happen the first time you take a photo after playing a while and then when restarting works fine.

My Switch game crashes very often, I have deleted and reinstalled to try and fix it…, I notice it most happens when going into the main menu. So pushing the plus button on the switch. Also when farming over 100 vegetables. I use the tip to put a fence around your farm buddy to stop them from getting in your way. Then I remove the fence and when they release all the extras to collect it immediately crashes, it didn’t do this before the update. But the farm buddies consistently block me when harvesting so it’s either use the fence technique or do not being farm buddy… game also crashes when entering/exiting houses. Most often it’s when pushing the plus button to go from game to the menu. Which is always frustrating because if I’m pushing plus it means I’m trying to save lol

My most frequent crashes on the Switch occur 1) entering or exiting a building; 2) purchasing or selling with Goofy (pushing the plus); 3) harvesting from Wall-E's patch, and most fun of all 4) after painstakingly laying out paved paths for more than 5 minutes without saving manually. I am still having 5-6 crashes a day. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, am current with Switch system updates and with all the patches and updates from Gameloft. It just continues to crash...

When i go into decorating mode someone's objects become invisible. Things like grass, ferns, flowers, sticks, etc. So I cant place anything there but I see nothing unless I back out. Going back into decorating mode usually something else turns invisible.

I decided to start a new game to take it slow. I have been playing two days now with only one crash. It was when I exited my house and then immediately tried to go into the menu with the + button. I just got Remy restaurant running and have done all quests up to this point. I have been fishing and moving items around. Mining and growing and cooking with no issues. I use the down arrow to access the menu and it is great. When I was progressing during my first game, i had advanced to having all biomes open and started to experience crashing when it was bustling with all the villagers. Maybe having so much going on is the issue. I enjoy the game and look forward to the future gameplay.

While playing with joycons connected to my switch, "typical" (pressing "+", taking pictures, entering / exiting building, random crashes in general) crashes occured FAR more less than e.g. having my joycons in my hands estimated 9ft away on the couch with switch connected to the docking station connected to the TV. Does anyone has made similar experiences?

It seems that the crashes have become worse since the Scar update and all of the suggestions that I have seen online DO NOT work. I waited almost 6 months in eager anticipation of it coming out, I forked over my $70 and I basically cannot play for more than 10 minutes without a crash. And it's not because I have too many items or too large of a farm. I am obly at 300 of my 600 limit because I have had the same stuff in my shop every day. This is all beyond frustrating.

Additionally I've been crashing when trying to open the menu to save as well. This started happening after the latest updates. I couldn't play after the initial update that included that red, bloody looking low energy screen as it was trauma triggering, so I've only started playing again since that was removed. Since then I crash more often than not. Haven't really had this problem outside of the first couple of weeks of launch. I assume it's a result of the new updates.
Update: I finally got Anna's quest for the picture completed. I saved every step of the way so when it crashed it restarted on the picture quest versus talking to Anna. I tried doing other things before taking the photo (mining, etc.) and it crashed. I then tried just going straight to the cavern for the photo as soon as I restarted and it registered the photo without crashing. It just had to be the first thing you did in the game upon restarting.

I have restarted the game today for the third time because of the issue with bugs when time travel _ and no warning in game about consequences. Actually I think it’s unacceptable to put it on the customers since so many other farming games like Stardew valley and Animal Crossing are able to code the game in a way that time travel is possible, even if events are locked.
Anyway my game still crashes several time per hour. So I bought the pc version since I was done with all quests and wanted to start designing. Then the pc version also crashes.

I'm probably tempting fate by saying this but I played for about 2.5 hours this afternoon and my switch only froze once and crashed once. I discovered through a thread here that somehow it has never been cloud saved, so I did that for the first time yesterday. I don't know if there's a correlation or not, but it was the least crashed I have had since September 6 when I started playing.

Issue: I have been having massive issues with the camera crashing / forcing the software to close since the scar update - particularly with finishing the level 10 quest for Anna (Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?). I believe I am on the last step or close to it - I have to take a photo with the snow family I crafted. With the new, more complex camera, every time I hit the shutter the game forces closed. Before the update the quest was also not working, as I would take the photo in a variety of ways and nothing would trigger the quest completion.

The game crashed and would not open stating that there was corrupted data. It made me format my micro SD card (which due to the corrupted file I could not pull any saved data off of onto a PC) and I have tried re-downloading the game multiple times. Switch: frequent crashing. I have cloud save turned on & I suspect sometimes it's happening if the game tries to save while I'm doing something else like opening a menu. I've started manually saving super frequently (every 3-5 minutes) & that seems to help. Sometimes before crashing a function in the game will stop working. For example, I stop being able to push characters out of the way. I was mining with Maui & he trapped me in a corner & kept flexing at me. It was pretty inappropriate. Another time, planting seeds next to the fence by my house wouldn't work. Reloading fixed that. One time a crash happened when I was just loading the game, before it even loaded in. Twice, it crashed while doing a selfie when a new character moved in. Sometimes the map fails to load in completely & the only way to do anything is to close the game.

I had the exact flower in that exact spot! You can move it with the furniture tool, thankfully! But I experienced the same behavior as well. I had to force quit the game. They need to make certain spots not valid for spawning.

They are working on crashes on Switch per their Trello board. I highly doubt you will get a refund, given that the game is in early access, you chose to buy and play while there was a possibility of bugs & issues that the dev team has stated multiple times. If you really want a refund, you can contact Nintendo but if they do refund you you will lose your save file & game process, and will not have access to the game anymore.

(I let it run while I had lunch in the other room in the hopes that the autosave would save my build progress. The game was still strobing after lunch. I force closed to stop the strobing, the game still hadn’t saved.)
- Changing Avatar’s appearance (skin, gender, eyes ect.)

- Cutscenes (really would have liked to see the scar ones for myself)
If you don’t play on switch, then you will never understand why switch players are talking about refunds. They certainly should not be penalized and lose their save file for being disappointed that they are not able to play the game.
ATTN DEVS: the most appropriate approach would be to offer switch players a download code for the game so that they may play on their preferred secondary platform.

Besides some crashes which have been very spaced apart I've played the game just fine on Switch including after the Scar's Kingdom update. I wouldn't call it unplayable by any means. Gotta make sure to manually save often so a crash doesn't set me back to far but that's it. I still did everything there was to do for now. My crashes have just been sometimes when I entered or leave my house, sometimes using the wells fast travel to another biome and sometimes just randomly when I was walking around and all plenty spaced apart to where I could work around them. I'd still like them fixed that be nice but I wouldn't call it unplayable.

When hitting any button the game does not have enough CPU or a fast enough processor because if you hit a button and do not wait for the desired action, but instead hit a second button the game will confuse itself and crash. Example: if I hit X to open my storage but realize I meant to hit A to pick something up instead. If I do not wait for X to finish opening my storage and hit A to quickly it will freeze and then crash.

Game froze when revealing a memory picked up during foraging. Game also froze yesterday when I was trying to give Elsa the swamp water for Kristoff's L10 quest.
The crashes have been their worst since the latest update, I can only play for around 40 mins before it freezes or crashes. The game takes so long to load up that I don't bother going back on.

my game crashes Constantly. it typically crashes on me about once an hour, sometimes more. always doing random things, like entering the menu, opening a pouch, or picking up orbs (orbs do it the most IMO) and just other random things

hey guys.. gotta get rid of something. i play dreamlight on my switch lite almost every night now. I'm really busy decorating the whole village right now... AND ALWAYS!!! when i'm done it says "the software has terminated due to an error" :))))) i could really cry! this game has been out long enough so that you could fix it..🙄 do you have it that keeps crashing? and then of course half a minute before it automatically saves again! 😭😭

Game seems to be crashing more often the last 2 weeks. Used to be about once an hour and now it’s about every 30 min or so. I try to save as often as possible but hitting the + button seems to trigger the crash too. Really hope there are some bug fixes for this especially since you’re releasing on another platform tomorrow with the update. Truly think the switch fix should have been a priority since we’ve all paid for this game months ago over starting on another platform.

Crashed again when trying to exit outdoor furniture mode. It's done this each time, so outside decorating is futile for my game.

Issue/how it occurs: Usually after playing for a while, anything that looks like consuming ram. E.g. taking pictures, opening several inventory chests, collecting memories or things with many particles. Looks a little bit like memory leaking, connected to a lower ram availability in switch. Avoiding performing quick actions one after another or having many things going on like having a companion while a character helps, etc. can alleviate the crashes.

I've noticed my game crashing if it's not properly synced to the cloud. I have to manually do it every few hours. It crashes like 3x an hour for me 😭

My game crashes now after a certain amount of time. I think maybe two hours? IF I don't save the game every once in a while. So does this mean the above will fix that?

My games crashes all the time now, every few minutes. The first 3-4 days was fine. After that it crashes all the time like every few minutes. It is really annoying. Irregardless what am I doing it will just crash suddenly. Moreover, the game lags whenever I am planting and harvesting crops. Not to mention it also sometimes freezes. I’ve checked with my friends. One who is in USA doesn’t crash that much as in hardly. Another in Australia crashes, but not as much as I do. I hope you can fix this bcos it is super annoying and slowing me down. Btw, I just started playing like a week ago.

it should fix them at least a little bit. they are still looking into stability on switch as it’s the most unstable console to play on

It anyone having any trouble when trying to use the map? Not sure if it's got anything to do with the fact that the new updates coming out tomorrow but every time I go to use the wishing wells they won't work and from time to time when I go to use maps to see where a character is the map won't load the characters and I'm forced to quit the game.
