Platform: PC Issue: When I went to Sunlit Plateau to find the Turquoise Sunbird, I found it stuck behind the Elephant Skull and I can't move that to free the bird. Does logging out and relaunching the game solve it or does something else need to be done?

Issue: Crocodiles and Foxes not unlocking? I’ve been feeding them favorite foods every day and not a single one has unlocked. I’ve successfully unlocked almost everything else but not a single variant of those two have been unlocked.

Issue: approach prompt not appearing for Rabbits (could be user error but I didn't know if anyone else was having trouble here)

Issue: fed foxes and crocs and they are not unlocking after being fed twice with favorite foods.

It takes more than feeding twice for many of the critters. It appears to be a friendship point system, with favorite foods contributing more points toward unlocking as companion than a food that is just liked. Once you meet the (hidden/unknown) friendship threshold the critter will unlock.

Some critters require more feedings than others.

Since the patch even foods that are only liked can give dream shards, so that’s not a criteria to use to determine if you’re feeding a favorite food.

Another edit- some guides out there in the wild have incorrect favorite food info. We’ve been testing them over in Critter Help.

The “Let’s Go See Your House” option not working for several character. I click it and am transported but the character isn’t there. Usually it’s Ursula, Maui and Ariel. Also same appearance issue for Ariel when the map shows she’s home, I go in and she’s not there.

I have gotten the same 3 colors for each critter since the update and even though I’ve fed them their favorite everyday, I can’t unlock them.

Did you use the correct approach?

Rabbits and foxes are a game of tag, raccoons and crocs are red light/green light. Squirrels and sunbirds you can just approach.

You have to keep following them. It’s four times in a row I think. Sometimes they’re too fast for me and it starts over. But you can only feed each color once a day, so if you’ve already done it they won’t stop to let you approach again until the next day.

Yeah i know. I was able to feed them successfully before the patch. They are literally disappearing like right in front of me. I’ll follow them, then they’ll jump in front of me again and then poof gone. And they return a while later if i leave the area and come back.

Issue: the pure white colored rabbit glitches out when attempting to approach it for the 4th time. It’s the only rabbit so far in the meadow that poofs from the entire area and is nowhere to be found after running up to it 3 times and attempting the 4th and final encounter.
It will respawn eventually and I’ve attempted to feed it again and again and it keeps disappearing after 3 approaches

Yep this is what I’m talking about but mine is happening with a few of the rabbits. They come back but unfortunately I’m not able to feed them still. Started after the patch.

Issue: when exiting a room in my house, Minnie was in the way, causing my character to perpetually walk in place. Could not cancel out, or open menu, and had to force quit.

Issue: Companion getting stuck while mining. Companion is trying to reach the node in order to toss out an extra gem for me, but gets stuck right before reaching the node and can't seem to reach it's intended coordinates. I find that if I "push" the NPC a few times toward the node, it will reach the coordinates it needs to finally toss out a gem.

I think a number of players have reported this, but I haven't seen anyone post location info yet, so here you go! (I'm on the left side of the Glade, with Moana)

Probably mentioned but previously could feed rabbits and squirrels and they’ve shown up in my collection but now no matter what critter I feed, none of them show up in my collection page as “found”

It's only unlocked 12 critters in my collection/companion area. It shows 5 squirrels, 4 rabbits (missing calico) and 3 sea turtles.

Should have:

Foxes: blue, black and white
Fed multiple times and every time except 1x white sturgeon or salmon
Dream light stats: Fed 13x total, 7x favorite food (7 sturgeon, 5 salmon, 1 fish they didn't like)

Crocs: Pink croc
Fed lobster 3x
Dream light stats are incorrect on this one says only fed 1x, but it's been 3x

Rabbits: Calico
Fed carrots 2x
Dream light stats: 26x total, favorite food only goes up to 10 on that achievement. Every time it's been carrots though.

Sea turtles: Black and purple
Fed seaweed 3x each
Dreamlight stats: 19x total, favorite food only goes up to 10 on that achievement

Sunbirds: Golden, Emerald and Turquoise
Fed multiple times
Dreamlight stats: 12x total, Favorite food 3x

Raccoons: Blue and Black
Fed 2x blueberries each

Dreamlight stats: 4x total, Favorite food 4x

Issue: favorite gifts dont show up anymore + wall e doesnt give his lv10 reward after the end quest.. (there is no new quest with lock). It definitly is his final quest.

Issue: Critters not spawning/appearing. This is occurring on 3 separate saves for 3 separate people in the house all playing on Steam. All 3 people found no critters in any biome upon first playing the game today. One person loaded their save again later and found all the critters. One person loaded their save again later and found all the critters except for the sunbirds. One person loaded their save again just now and still found no critters in any biome.

It actually isn’t his final quest because wall-e’s final quest isn’t in the game yet. Neither is Minnie’s. It’s frustrating, but the final quests and the final prizes for those two characters just aren’t in the game yet.

Issue: Like others, I am suddenly unable to feed critters of any kind. I can get through the approach and hit "E" to enter the inventory menu. But when I click on the food in my inventory nothing happens. I have tried with both mouse buttons and with all kinds of critters. I have some rabbits and squirrels unlocked as companions so it has definitely worked in the past. The last significant things I did in the game before I noticed this issue is I completed Mother Gothel's quest "The Curse" and unlocked the wintery area.

I'm having an issue with mining, where my companion will get stuck stuttering like this when they go to do their pickup animation. So far I've only noticed it with Eric and Elsa.

After a couple minutes they'll eventually free themselves and I can go back and find them item later. Or if I fast travel they'll immediately be free but the item won't be there.

Just continue going about your business. Your companion will be stuck for a while but once unstuck they will literally yeet the item they found to near your current location, wherever it is you are.

Same with squirrels (I have a black squirrel companion does that mean I can’t approach other squirrels?)

Pua is a companion you can choose, the turtle is the first creature you fed twice and qualifies as a companion- both are found in the wardrobe under companion. You can then switch and choose from the critters you have ‘collected’ to be your companion and follow you everywhere

Platform: Xbox one. In the past couple of days my frame rate sometimes drops drastically. I noticed that when that happens, my companion isn’t nearby. I’m not sure if they got stuck somewhere, but I’ve found that deselecting my companion from the wardrobe instantly solves the framerate issue.

Issue: I've had a problem with one of the squirrels. I fed it and they usually go back to do their own thing, but wherever I go, the little guy has been following now. I know each animal usually stays in their respective areas, so the squirrels are supposed to stay in the Plaza. When I walk to another area, it follows me into that area, even when I fast travel it will run across the map and maybe catch up to me in like thirty seconds.
It was nice to have the little guy follow me, but after a week maybe I just wish he'd leave me alone

It sounds like the squirrel is your critter companion. You can change companions or remove them by going to your Wardrobe>Companions.

Issue: I'm trying to feed the turtles. I am able to approach, but when I hit the screen to feed, them (says "gift"), it doesn't allow me to feed them anything. I've tried with both turtles currently spawning. I haven't unlocked them as critters yet.

i had the same issue with all the animals for a while but on pc. i’m not sure if it will work for everyone but i completed one of the quests i had (chose one at random) to see if it would change anything. i don’t know how it correlates/what happened but i was able to gift them afterwards.

Black Sea turtle is doing the same thing too. It’s worth noting I accidentally fed both of them the wrong food at one point so either the consequences for feeding the wrong food are more drastic than I thought, or there is a glitch. 🥺

Moana (set as any boosting companion), the little ‘bow’ animation she does makes it look like she’s dropping a squat. I have her set as my fishing helper, and I get so excited every time I see her about to ‘poop’ a fish. XD

Super rare. I just got the White Squirrel and Croc yesterday and the Black Turtle today. If you check the ‘Collection’ tab and the go to ‘critters’, it will tell you whether or not each one is appearing that day and if they are, the time slots they’ll be available!

Issue: I had gone through and fed the critters as usual. Fed the emerald bird and got it as my companion. When I went to return to mining, my game froze so I was forced to ALT+F4 out. Restarted the game and the emerald bird is no longer my companion. It flies away when I try to approach and feed so it clearly has been fed; it just isn't "unlocked" in my collections now.

So I keep getting dreamshards for the last 2 days. From feeding all the critters their favorite foods. I currently only have 7 total left to unlock not counting the ravens, so I clearly know how to approach them. An iv been getting motifs up until recently, an some furniture an some clothes too. Did the game just run out of motifs to give me?? Only 2 weeks into the first month of release so I'm not sure if there is more motifs to get or this a bug. I'm on ps4 BTW. Also I now have over 300 drramshards an counting an a big part of it I'd the critters continuously giving them l evey time I feed them their favorite food recently. If their is a limit on motifs from critters could someone post about that so we the players know what to expect. Thanks 😊

Issue: Common Critter glitched - have been feeding the Classic Squirrel berries and peanuts (so far, 11 times now) and have not be able to "capture" it. I have every other CC and 2 of the fancy ones. I am feeding the correct one with liked/favorite foods. I have the Critter schedule, so I'm not making mistakes.

Have you counted your current motif total?? If you have 225 total, not counting the founders packs kne you've hit the motif limit currently in game.

Once I hit that limit I didn't get any more critters yet. Iv fed the red squirrel 10 times counting tonight an hes still not owned by me.

I believe the two things could be tied together, tou hit motif limit you don't get critters anymore till next season or something.

Or. It's a bug.

Either way I now have over 400 dreamshards just from feeding critters alone an no rare critters to either.

Only got 2 rare critters during the first week of play an none since.

I currently own all the critters except for the rest of the rares.

There's no point in even feeding them anymore. All I gwt is dreamshards an memories.

Taming the crocodiles and raccoons are more finicky than the others. You basically have to find the sweet spot for when they pause to look around before looking at you, then beginning their pattern of crouching low then raising their heads up. I have found keeping a medium distance is best and waiting for them to face your character. As soon as it lowers its guard (can also observe their eyes not looking around in a panicked manner) approach them ONE step then stop. Rinse and repeat literally one step at a time until the “approach” prompt appears.

The crocs, raccoons, and foxes seem to take the longest to tame. I don’t know the exact number, but you definitely can’t tame them as a companion on the first feeding

The emerald sunbird hasn’t unlocked despite feeding a favorite food many times. I lost count how many times but since I just unlocked the orchid sunbird and it’s limited to ‘liked’ foods only and only available once a week it seems crazy that the emerald won’t unlock when I’ve fed it more often.

Strangely I just had this happen to me earlier with a crocodile I hadn’t even noticed but was able to “approach” right away. I’m assuming this is a bug and not the way you’re supposed to tame the crocodiles and raccoons. I think as I was rounding a corner just so happened to walk into the prompt but couldn’t replicate it.

It used to take me a while to tame them and I felt just as frustrated. I even captured the last 30 seconds on a video clip to rewatch how I tamed a croc or raccoon so I could do it again. Practice really does make perfect in this case. Once you figure out the sweet spot and the cues, it should only take you no more than 1-2 minutes to feed them. I just have 3 more critters left to tame now

Please fix the crocodiles and raccoons. I read about online how you’re suppose to approach them slowly when they are sitting there but that doesn’t even work. I think it’s a glitch on the switch but it’s driving me absolutely mad! Please make it easier to approach them or fix this bug.

I think you should probably try to find a video of someone doing it. It’s not about being slow. You have to walk toward them when they notice you but aren’t standing up and stopping once they stand up. It’s a game of red light green light essentially. It’s hard to actually describe.

It's not a bug on thd Switch. It a game of red light/green light. I play on the switch and am able to feed them. It did take me some time to figure it out exactly, though, but now that I have I can feed them every day.

On stream, rabbits just glitch away and disappear. I know you need to chase them but actually disappearing makes it really hard! And then sometimes the screen moves to where they've moved to so you can finally feed them but they are stuck in a wall or something 🤣

I think others may have mentioned this, but on switch the critters and companions will go through objects like rocks. I have mainly seen this with rabbits, Ariel and Ursula in particular. Also I have found that you can still dig in an area even if your digging companion (in my case Mickey) is standing there. It’s like they don’t exist and are not in the way of the patch you want to dig, even if they are standing on top of it.

Hey everybody So i had some bugs including not being able to feed the critters (i can pull the menu up but can't select) plus some other small things, but I verified my game files yesterday and was able to finally feed them again, and so far as i play today most of the glitches have stopped. Hope this helps some other I'm PC too By the way, don't know if you can verify your files on consol.

Hey ! I've been playing everyday since day 1, and feeding critters would always get me AT LEAST 1 or 2 bags (but mostly like 5 or 6). Since people have complained and they changed the shards droprate, it got ridiculous. I get shards everywhere, and it's now been a week critters will ONLY give shards. It's obvious the droprate has been massively changed and I really don't get how people could possibly be short on shards x) I have 350 of them...

When selecting under wardrobe a sunlit bird as companion, the flapping wing sound remains as you enter buildings etc. If you change companions, the sound remains as if the bird is near your shoulder.

Issue: One of the rabbits in my meadow spawned in an awkward area, encased by decorations. I deleted one to approach it, but when I did, it ran in circles for a moment before vanishing. I have been feeding the Red Raccoon its favorite food for the past 4-5 weeks (I've lost count), essentially every time its been available and still have not friended the raccoon. About 3 weeks or so ago I accidently selected an item that was completely rejected by the red raccoon (I think it might of been a non-food item) and I have a very strong suspicion that this has bugged the red raccoon from becoming my friend.

The Red Raccoon is the only raccoon left to be friended, so something is clearly not working right as the Red Raccoon is a more 'common' critter. Any help would be appreciated.

All Companion characters (non critters) at times can be pushed to move past them. Other times they are non-moveable especially when in a house or near a node. I frequently get Trapped in locations because the character will not move and stands in the pathway, example the post above "elsa is a wall ". Or they shove my player into the node and Both are then stuck in animation requiring a restart.

Imo they should ALWAYS be pushable to prevent player entrapment.

I look at the map view, find a character I want to see (today's example, I was trying to find Mother Goethel that has the gardneing skill), use the well to get to the area where the character is, and go into or around the place where they show on the map. When I get there, they aren't there. This happens most often when I'm entering their homes to meet with them or at Chez Remy's. Most of the time they are in entirely different parts of the same area when I come out of Chez Remy or their house.
