Yesterday held a lot of crashes. Today I can't even enter my menu, it's been crashing every time. I don't even know how to tell how many items I have in my valley (recently learned there's a 600 cap?) But I have been deleting all the rocks and under brush along with a lot of trees.

I’m stuck in a cycle of crashes where I can’t even start the game. I was just about done with the Anna quest, and I was supposed to welcome her to the valley. When I transitioned from the castle to the valley through the entrance, my game crashed.

Now, every time I start my game I get the “welcome Anna!” Message, and after hitting a button to trigger the fountain scene the game crashes. Sometimes it lasts until Anna appears, and either just before the game transitions to photo mode, or during photo mode, the game crashes.

This part is not skippable, I need to go past it to make the game progress. But I’m trapped here because of the crashing. 😢

Edit: I just checked, and my system had a pending system software update…(I had no clue this was pending.) I just updated my system. Could this solve my crashing problem?!?!

No apparently it did not. My game immediately crashed again. 😭 I guess I’ll just have to keep trying.

Been playing since it came out with only a couple of crashes here and there, now yesterday and today the game keeps crashing every time I try to enter my house. I haven't added anything to my house or valley so it shouldn't be an item loading issue. I can fast travel and come in and out of other houses and shops but it crashes entering my house almost every time.

Having a weird issue on PS4. Ever since I made changes to my 2nd floor (adding a bunch of items/decorations to the main room and 2 of the 3 extra rooms) any time I do anyting inside and then leave my house, the game crashed.

I loaded in, entered my house, then immediately left - stable
Entered, only stayed in the 1F main room, put stuff in chests, then left - crashes
Go up to 2F, go back down, leave - crashes

I don’t know if this is considered a crash issue or not (sorry).

If I play for more than an hour, the game suddenly freezes and then it says “now playing offline”. No error code, just “now playing offline”. And I know I have internet access. It’s the game, not my PS4 or TV. I manage to connect after a few minutes, but after a while it disconnects again. So annoying!

Its allready known the 15 -09 it was last update and they still cant fix it. Next week it will be a month . They have no specific repair. And you must believe they fix it. Its unplayable. In meanwhile my girl has not many issues on pc. I cant play now for 3 weeks. And still they ask the Grand Prize for something its unplayable.

I finally tried to play again today after a week of not touching the game…still crashed right away. I deleted the game and reinstalled it and still crashes right as it loads.
We should rally together asking for our money back at this point it’s unplayable for 90% of ps4/ps5 players

Just for everyone to remember if this was an easy fix they would have released a patch already. They gave a time frame in which they were confident they could resolve the issue and have a patch out that is properly tested so it won't break anything else. They did not purposely do this to a large percentage of their players. Everyone knows this is frustrating and particularly because yeah we all paid to play in early access. This thread should be used to report new issues and try to help people be able to play with fixes that people have found. Don't drown out the good information because you're mad, that doesn't help anyone.

I haven't really been able to play since the last update because if all the crashes. It happens when picking memories up, going in and out of buildings, going Into the menu.

You can’t expect gameloft to hurry. They aren’t a big company that can just put fixes out all the time. They come when they come. Gameloft is aware of all the issues people are telling them and we’ll hear more soon. This complaining won’t get it fixed any faster. Have patience 😄

I am actually able to play a decent amount of time now before a crash but I have experienced the constant crashes for at least 2 weeks. I feel lucky being able to play at least some while a lot can't even get past the loading screen. So I am speaking up for ALL of us when saying this is and never will be okay because I think ypu think "oh they will all be silent once it's fixed". Might be but we won't forget and won't be happy being almost a month behind those who play on other platforms that works! Ppl paid 70 bucks for crying out loud. I know you are reading this. Forward this to your boss since I speak for the majority of Playstation-players now. You need to adress us directly about this. "We're aware of the issue and working on it. Patch in 3 weeks along with new content" is not the bandaid we are looking for.

Oh you are 100% correct. I know it is very frustrating. I also don't want anyone to be silent about the issue. But people spamming this thread or complaining every time a social post comes out that doesn't mention the fix isn't really helpful. I got really lucky that a fix worked for me long enough to complete the event. I just know from working with tech that they are doing what they can, and there is no way it is a simple fix because no reasonable person let alone a company would want to receive hate when they have the fix in their pocket. I also don't hold them to any level more than other game companies that have released full games that work less than this. Ultimately I am just confident that they will fix it. I do agree that they need to be a bit more vocal about the fix even if it is only here. Lack of communication makes people feel like they aren't being listened to.

Yes,we are on the same page then. I have tried out over 15 "temporary fixes" (there's a list way back in this thread) to try to help ppl but it is in the programming. I also remind ppl there is a patch coming and when since GL seem to focus on Twitter only for some odd reason.

I agree. Yes it is in beta and we should expect issues. If anyone went into this expecting perfection then they really don't understand what the term beta means. But for a game to be downright unplayable, especially one that we've paid money to gain early access to, is ridiculous.

Guys, yesterday was one of the day the game crashed almost every five minutes playing on my Playstation 4 ( ps4) , i decided start to study on what moments it was happening and what to avoid doing to have a bareable gameplay, and here are my considerations, because now i played for almost an hour without a crash doing the following things:
=> dont save the game imediately after upgrading a stall , do something else like fishing or harvesting a fruit and then save.
=> on the menus, avoid as maximum possible accessing the map, use the directionals to go to the dreamlight tasks or others, and if you pass the map by accident do it fast.
=> dont open memories gathered in any place, always when i tried to open then my game crashed 80 percent of the time.
=> Change the location of the shop of Scrooge McDuck, it really helps, because the first location have a bug and somehow it crashed always before leaving or opening the inventory inside of it.
=> after saving the game, go to the dreamlight daily tasks menu, and then comeback to the gameplay, if you go directly chances are your game is going to crash.
=> if you could, dont save your game directly after selling things to Goofy, do something else first, i was saving right after selling with fear of the crash and it was crashing even more.
=> avoid going to ps4 home, always when i do that the game crashes.
=> as much is i can i avoid going inside my house, and if i do that i save the game before entering.
And here we are, needing so much an update to fix that issues, i swear if i didnt loved this game this much i would probably drop and only comeback after severals updates.

Ok. So now I’m stuck. I’ve been playing for an hour, and the whole game froze out of nowhere. Apart from being called “Player name” (even though I wanted to be called Jenny, and said so), this is the first real issue I’ve had until now. I can’t do anything. Thought my console was out of battery, but it isn’t. Nothing is working. I can’t change to settings, collection or anything. I think the map is what is causing the problem here.

PS4 - As of the last hour, the game will not open. As soon as the loading screen gets to about 75%, the game crashes with the blue screen (CE-38700-8). This has happened 7 times. Guess I officially cannot play anymore. Ready for this next update with promised optimizations for PS4!!!

It is frustrating and the fact that Gameloft and Disney did not stop sales knowing it had this many problems is a sign they don't actually care. I would not have bought early access if I had known. Before anyone asks, no, I didn't buy right from the jump.

Unless they want a massive call for refunds and potential lawsuits for bait and switch (because people will do this), they better have this at the top of their priority list.

I was the same as you. Bought the game knowing it’s in early access, enjoyed the gameplay and charm despite the bugs, and learned to save frequently so I wouldn’t lose progress despite the crashes.

Unfortunately, I decided to add Anna and Elsa to my valley…and when I was in the process of going back to the valley from the frozen realm to “Welcome Anna!”, my game decided to crash.

What makes this different and very frustrating from the general crash situation is that my game doesn’t like rendering the environment/loading when I need to “Welcome Anna!”, and its the first thing I need to do when starting up the game. So it crashes EVERY TIME I load up the game. Thus, I’m locked out of playing until the PS4 crashing issue is resolved in the next update.

Just don’t start the Frozen realm, and hopefully you won’t get locked out the same way I was.

Yeah, but still, we aren’t actively planting and watering these crops…Wall-E is. And his contribution to the valley is to provide us with an assortment of crops. So we pick up what he’s provided for us.

I was confused about this too, and thought that I could get bones crops from our buddies if we harvested the crops…But we didn’t. So I just accepted that it was similar to the boat, and appreciated the fact that I was getting pumpkins when I didn’t even have access to the forgotten lands yet.

If this really is a bug (and I don’t believe it is), then perhaps we will see something change once the update drops.

PS4 don‘t have this function. There is only one save and it is an auto save function. If this save got broken there is no ingame function to bring it back or bring back a back up cause it doesn’t exist on PS4. There is no cloud save funtion or the menu to enable cloud save and creating a Gameloft account. :/

Yes there is a manual save, you press options on your controller and its at the bottom.

It‘s overwrite the auto save cause there is only one save! If this save got’s broken, it‘s broken. Ingame exist no back up save or the funtion for cloud saving.

Can't get in my game today at all. I've already restarted my game because I wasn't going to wait 3 weeks for the devs to get back to me or and update. Still haven't heard from the devs about my first games save not working. Now with the new event that might have started, I am trying to get in to see and I can't even be in game for 10 seconds. I get kicked almost immediately. Since the devs won't respond to us or give us an update before the new content, I am really worried I won't be able to even get into my game. And who actually knows if an update will work for us, since the first and only update crashed a lot of ps games. Guess I start the waiting game again...

Yeah, I made a Twitter-account just to follow DDV and they are extremly active there, replying ppl with the same answer "We are aware of the issue and working on it. I was able to do some item farming last night, inventory worked fine (but not changing clothes or decorating), could interact with chests and sell, cook, and craft, but made sure never to touch the quest/collection/map menu. It's very frustrating, because I use the map a ton to see what needs watering or where characters are.

Still no change and no clear communication from dev's other than "we know about it". If patches are going to take over a month to come out and for necessary fixes so people can actually play, the game is not going to last at all. The dev's do not have their priorities straight and don't seem to care.

The only sort of takeaway I got from this whole crapfest is if you see Gameloft...DON'T go gameloft. Don't give them any money in the future, it's just not worth it.

Early access implies access. For many people the game is not playable in any state. Pretty crazy this has gone on for so long. I know more about the upcoming Scar conent than when I can actually play it again.

What I do is I just run around and farm, talk to villagers and feed critters. I never save manually, I just wait for it to autosave and then I go into the menue if I need to. Mostly to check/get the Dreamlight Duties rewards. I seem to be able to play for longer when "cradling" the game like this. I don't enter houses, except Scrooge's once a day but worth the crash and I don't pick up memories (they are laying all over the place, lol). Not optimal but if I can play longer w/o crash doing this then fine.

Pausing the game
Loading the map
Entering a house or realm
Crafting an item (hit and miss)
Gathering fish from moana's boat
Collecting a memory off the ground
Bringing up any menu other than inventory

It has been doing this for about 2 weeks and I've pretty much given up at this point. I had it crash about 5 or 6 times within an hour this morning. I have tried restarting my console as well

As long as I don't enter buildings, the game is rather stable. But...
If I enter my home right after loading: crash
Go to Scrooge right away and try to exit: crash
After restarting I can enter and leave without any problems, but only once. Don't try to do it twice, because... crash.
Same goes for entering rooms in my house, Floors are no problem.

Never crashed when opening the menu.. or cooking. It's pure buildings for my game.

I do have to manually cloud save. I also save before entering & leaving buildings.

We can no longer access the playstation store from our consoles, we have tried everything from logging out our PSN accounts, to restoring our licenses. Seems to be an issue PS have had for some users lately. When was the last time you did a database rebuild on your PS4? If reinstalling DDV (make sure you cloud save first) doesn't work I would recommend trying that (google for steps) since I've read it helped a lot of ppl. Come to think of it I am actually going to do this myself even though I don't have this issue since it may improve the console significaly if not done in a while/if ever.

How do you do this?

If you follow the steps in the link it will guide you through it. It's quite simple. You go into Safe Mode and choose Rebuild Database. What it does it remove any corrupted files.

"A PS4 database rebuild may take minutes or hours, depending on how full your console is and how often you install and delete games. Rebuilding reorganizes your hard drive to make it easier and quicker for the system to access your files. A properly organized database can load data faster, decreasing the chances of having your game freeze or experiencing frame rate drops.

Database rebuilding is a relatively simple task that you should do every few months, but it is best to do it once a quarter. The more frequently you do it, the less time the process should take, at least in theory.

Database rebuilding sounds like cleaning — and cleaning sounds like getting rid of things — but the process shouldn't delete any data unless a file is corrupted. Corrupted files will be deleted, but you certainly weren't going to be able to use them even if they were still there. Outside of corrupted files, database rebuilding is not only perfectly safe, but it's also highly recommended. As your PS4 gets older and older, the chances that junk files need to be cleaned to improve performance increase dramatically."

Yes exactly like defrag! Hmm, not sure but just log into the game and under profile (I believe? Don't have the game open now) under settings - choose to Cloud Save. Should show as an option right under your user-id.

I'm at a point where I just kind of give up playing at the time being. The crashes are getting beyond frustrating that I can't even enjoy the game properly without worrying if I'm going to crash with every action I make. I just literally crashed while picking up a memory. I understand that the devs are hard at work and this is by no means me being upset with them. The fact is though with no sugar coating that the game is just completely unplayable in its state on the PS4. I have persisted through the crashes to at least grind until its fixed but now its getting to a point where I can't even do that anymore. I got this game by the end of pixar fest too so I ended up missing on a majority of the rewards due to the crashes making it difficult to grind. I do wish they extended it for some of us who couldn't help the constant crashes we got. I'm scared to progress further in the game because I fear during some kind of event happening in the game is going to crash, causing more issues to my game so I've been holding back on top of that knowing the Toy story and Scar update is around the corner is disheartening with all these issues attached to it. I hope Gameloft takes these issues into account for console players because I'm apprehensive there will be a fix before the update which is only going to add more issues if its not addressed.

My game has been crashing (ce-38700-8) since last night & will not allow me to welcome Prince Eric to the valley. It keeps crashing right at the end of the quest, pretty much any time I open the menu or enter a building. And when I do manage to get to Ariel & complete the quest, it crashes as soon as Prince Eric arrives. Hey guys, i suggest trying to disconnect from the Internet when loading the game up, it won't do cloud save via PS, but if you're only using your console you've got no issues, I noticed if I wasn't connected, I could load the menu up, pick up items, and walk into certain buildings! It might work for some but not all, but please give it a try if you haven't, I've been able to play on my ps for the first time in weeks cause of not connecting to the net ❤️❤️ note you won't be able to open blue chests which sucks but the game worked non the less

After my game became unplayable, because it crashed directly after loading my savefile, I removed EVERY object outside, every tree, every stone etc... with this I was able to finish all the quests and got a small pumpkin farm running, also I managed to get the star path rewards, I am well prepared to decorate outside with the patch next week. Impossible to play as soon as every character and every biome is unlocked. The game crashes constantly. Can't play for more than 5 minutes.
Mostly when entering ou exiting houses, interacting with chests, accessing menu... But sometimes ir crashes even when i'm doing nothing.

Same, it crashed when leaving my house then everytime I go back in (I save before I try but still crash). At least 3 times it has just closed straight away as soon as it has loaded.
I like the game but the constant crashing is starting to wear me out

The game hates me lol every trick I find to avoid crashes it’s like the games knows and then crashes my trick and then it’s stuck crashing more. It also corrupted my save file and I nearly had a heart attack but thankfully cloud save saved me. What other tricks have you guys used to avoid crashing? I would like to complete my quests before the update but at this rate at least I’ll have all the characters.

The only trick for me is not go near buildings. That's the main reason for crashing/closing the game. I'm "lucky" that's it.

I just went and deleted all the unnecessary scenery and I spammed the back and forth on the pause menu and it did it a few times before crashing so that seems to help if your still careful

I saw someone post something about rebuilding your ps4 database. I tried that and the game worked for about an hour before crashing. Which isnt the longest I've been able to play without a crash in a long time. Granted, I stuck to my normal tricks of not entering buildings, collecting memories or opening any menu except the inventory menu and goofy stalls

Ill gonna throw off this game its more then a month there isnt a fix. Its isnt playable and i have played better early acces then this.. Dont ask refund its a waste not supported by ps4 store . And gameloft gives answer you dont get it back. Sorry for the ones i must say it but . The start was nice and beautifull but if progress further its a nightmare.

Haven't been able to play in days because of constant crashes. I agree if the fix is there ready to roll out then why can't we get that before the Scar update? Should the patching not be considered a priority over adding new content to a broken game? It makes me a little worried for the fix if they are still holding on to it until last minute. There must be a reason they're making us wait. Maybe they wanted to make sure our optimizations are decent and ready before just rolling them out and causing more bugs. We're all as frustrated as each other with the game and wait but let's hope it's worth it. It's only a few more days and then we can find out what's been fixed and what hasn't.

Personally I'm glad they haven't rushed the update because I'd rather they took longer to iron things out before just throwing an update and causing more issues ☺️

Also, if they need to keep the versions the same across consoles because of cross-play then they have to wait, because Switch only allows studios to push a finite number of updates.

Does anyone have that problem? I had crashes for weeks already but untill 2 days ago they were kind of predictable so i was still sort of able to play by avoiding the triggers. So everyone asking why dont they just put a patch out for crashes only:

I'm a game developer (not for dreamlight valley)... but to get sonys approval for updates/patches can take weeks and sometimes even months. The build that we can next can often be over a month behind their current version. Because of this it makes more sense to make updates as big as possible as they do them sporadically.

That being said, I still find it unacceptable to release and charge for a game in it's current state.

I’ve got a similar problem. But the first thing the game wants me to do is to welcome a character, (which is something I was about to do before my game initially crashed). Now, every time I login, I’m in front of my house and “Welcome _______” is displayed. After hitting a button to initiate the arrival of the character it crashes. Sometimes I’m lucky and it lasts long enough for me to see the character appear, but crashes when it transitions to photo mode. This happens EVERY. SINGLE. TIME…so now I’ve been locked out of playing for the past 2 weeks since this started for me. 😭

I lost my whole cloud save after trying to push it so please don't for your sake. But it's been a problem with Eric and the dev team doesn't seem to wanna tell people about it until it's too late

How did you lose your cloud save?! 😰 I have cloud save because of PlayStation Plus…and I usually update the cloud save by saving manually with both the standard save and cloud. I saved multiple times during my quests in the >!Frozen Realm!<, and at the final quest to unlock the character, I didn’t save, and the game crashed. (This is what happened before I got trapped in that crashing cycle, where I got locked out of the game…).

The auto save seems to have worked, where I just spawn in front of my house to welcome the character. But I’m unable to open the menu to save, due to the crashing issues.

What did you do to lose your cloud save? 😢

Elsa, some people can't cloud save because when they go to try and save the game crashes. Every time you open up a menu the game crashes. Every time you try to go save on either of the saves the game crashes. Every time you try to pick up a memory the game crashes. Every time you go into or come out of a building the game crashes. Every time you try to open up the map the game crashes. Etc ..etc ..etc... You are fortunate that you can play the game.

I was trying to push the Eric move in and at some point it said my save was corrupted, then I tried to reload it from the cloud and it said I didn't have a save. I sent the whole thing to the devs and didn't hear back for a week so I restarted when they announced it would be 3 weeks for the update. I still have only heard one thing from the devs and it was to wait and see if the update fixes it.

I understand how unplayable the game is. I actually suffered through all those crashes too. But there were still points in time where (by some miracle) I was able to open up the menu to save.

When I first had the game, everything was fine. But as I slowly progressed, the game began to deteriorate and crash more frequently with each of the triggers you mentioned. I had wanted to take my time with how I progressed, so I only had unlocked the meadow, the Beach, the glade, and the Forest, as well as only the first 3 Realms. At that point, I was experiencing all the variety of triggered crashes, but by avoiding most of the triggers the game seemed playable. I believed that the different areas in the game, like the realms, had a different “Storage” capacity than the valley itself, and all the crashes seemed to be centered within the valley. When I started the Frozen realm, and was actually able to play it with very little crashes, I took the opportunity to save and cloud save after every task. It’s when I left the realm to welcome Anna that the game crashed the moment I stepped out of the castle.

Now I’m locked out of the game, and have been unable to play it due to crashing the moment I load in. This has been the case for about 2 weeks, (from when I sent the report to Gameloft customer care). So no, I can’t play the game. 😐

I’ve just left it alone after I was locked out, and returned to “Hades” for the time being until we get the update.

Elsa, oh my that sounds exactly like my story. When I first started playing the game it never crashed. As I progressed it got worse. And now I can't play the game at all.

I have a feeling that the developers are upset with me and that's why I can't communicate with him. Therefore, I have no other way of letting them know what's wrong or what my issues are. I sure hope they are aware of what's going on and that the update fixes them!

Considering that we’re posting in the “PS4 Crashes” forum, it’s safe to assume everyone that comments here has a PS4 at the very least. 😅

I’m pretty sure that if one of us has a specific situation, it’s likely that someone else might have it as well…considering the fact that so many people have bought this game for many different systems, things are bound to overlap in terms of Issue reports to the developers.

I sent them 3 different issue reports, and only got a response for the first report. (The 3rd report is the one about my current problem). I think that they’re too busy working on the update to respond to everything. 🥲 and since the update is coming after tomorrow, they have to really push it to meet the deadline (if they haven’t finished it yet).

It’s been 3 weeks since I’ve played and to be honest I have lost interest and have no desire to play anymore. It’s a shame I wasted money but it is what it is. People with ADHD will understand how easy it is to get addicted to grinding games but even easier to lose interest when you’re stuck. So I moved on to something else.

In addition to constant crashes. My game has glitched with anna. Im finishing her level 10 quest lets build a snowman and it keeps freezing on take a photo with the snow family then crashing. When the game reloads it loaded to where is froze not the house. I can open menus but cant exit photo mode. Ive even tried restarting the system but will loads back to where it froze.

I’m concerned about getting the update…they recommend that we save the game before updating, but I can’t save because of the crashes. And the only way to fix the crashing is to update the game.

I don't have a cloud setup with Playstation, and I used to sell external harddrives when I worked with Gamestop. Both previous gen (PS and Xbox) consoles are designed to allow games to save to them because they had tiny built in storage when they first came out.
