It’s a lot but I tried my best to break down the paragraph

Went to a place I’ve gone to for 10 years and today was the first time it caused an allergic reaction that was bad enough to go to the ER last night. Not sure how to go about this cause I know the place didn’t mean to, I made sure to order from the dishes furthest from the foods I’m allergic to just in case but in the end I still ended up with a swollen throat and a terrible itchy feeling throughout my body. It was so hard to breathe by time I got there. I just hate confrontation and not sure if I should let them know for future people or what, it doesn’t seem worth getting $12 refunded, I just want capsaicin allergies to be more known even though it’s rare, it honestly could help a lot.

Only 2% of the population is allergic to spices (this includes capsaicin, Cheyenne, papkrika, celery, garlic, cinnamon, sesame, tumeric, onion, mustard, etc.) these are spices that are used constantly in foods which makes it hard for people who are allergic to one or multiple spices to find safe foods. We need to normalize that not every can’t touch,smell, or taste certain spices due to health reasons. I’m thankful for me, it’s only capsaicin (which is also In Cheyenne) thankfully with paprika, it’s made with sweet bell peppers which has a recessive gene for capsaicin which is why they aren’t spicy or have a kick, which thankfully makes it safe for me to eat.

But again, sorry for the rant, I’m just not sure if I take my discharge papers and let the shop know or just drop it like it never happened. I’m just loss at this point.

I think its worth spreading awareness. Its also why i get upset when people say they're allergic to something when what they actually mean is "i dont like that item". And i feel like folks doing that has contributed to the issue of people not being super careful or just writing things off as a preference instead of an actual allergy.

oh I am so sorry to hear that happened to you, and I am glad you are okay now, allergies are really scary!

I would maybe just let them know that you aren't looking for trouble but that when people advise on allergies this is why and let them know it caused a serious issue. you are lucky the ER was able to help you, allergies, no matter how rare, are very serious and should be treated as such!

Like even if you dont take your discharge papers, going there and talking to the owners or even the head chef (if there is one) and explaining that you had an allergic reaction might help it not happen in the future. Unfortunately people get lax, which isnt an excuse at all. Allergies are very serious because you never know if its going to be a mild rash or a full blown anaphylactic reaction. Anyone working in a restaurant ought to know to treat all allergies as worst case scenario.

Yeah ER helped when I finally got back there, it was so busy i was in the waiting room for 2 hours, thankfully the benedryl I took prior cut some symptoms down but it was still cruddy

I have a friend who is vegan. Not by choice - because she has alpha gal and literally cannot digest/process most proteins. I cannot tell you how many restaurants we've gone to where she ordered a safe food AND made the staff aware and stjll was served something containing things she cant eat. Its very frustrating and could be life threatening.

That’s why I hope the people I was in culinary school are doing me justice with their cooking practices now. That was the last time I had an attack (8 years ago) so bad I had to go to the ER cause one of the students dumped a whole bottle of Chester into a pot and the room became unbearable. My roommate and next door neighbor/classmates had to take me to the ER

I get that, it’s irritating when people don’t take allergies serious anymore. If a place can’t for sure make sure no cross contamination happens, I will just leave. Them getting a paycheck ain’t more important than me living

Yeah, it was a total mistake, the steam made the bottle slip and it exploded everywhere from the drop. Luckily I was allowed to stay out for 2-3 days while they deep cleaned the building to make sure none of the dust was still there. They actually took my allergy very seriously besides my family and it’s the first time I felt seen outside of my mama and sister (they’re the only ones who remember, my dad sometimes forgets still and I don’t blame my aunts and uncles if they don’t know cause I’m not around them enough for it to be drilled in)

As a “picky eater” (my food preferences aren’t by choice, I hate being this way, would stop if I could) any time I say I don’t like something I’m always met with something along the lines of “we’ll have you tried it” and it gets very tiring and frustrating, so I understand people choosing to say they are allergic to it instead cause then people stop asking questions and just accept it

But I also completely understand being upset by that kind of thing, I have a close friend with peanut allergies so I definitely take food allergies very seriously

It’s an unfortunate situation for both parties

I was terrified to take a bath at my grandpa house for several years bc I had not one but two crawl out of the drain while I was in the middle of a bath (after the water was already ran) as a child it took a lot of fighting to get me to take a bath after that happened so I get it. I've only been scared of one bee in my entire life. But he was at least 2 inches big (size and length) and he chased me inside my house before I could get the dogs in. So I would try to run to the other door to let them in but every time I got to the other door and called for the dogs the bee came charging towards me faster than my dogs tiny legs could run. Beating them to the door which forced me to close it and run back to the other door. We played this game for a good hour before I xould get my dogs inside that bee wouldn't leave me alone wouldn't try to attack the dogs but he sure wanted me for some reason.

I've sat down on one when I was 4 or 5 too young to know what's going on but old enough to remember sitting on a bee and running around the car without a seat belt -always a rebel. Mom told me to sit down so I did and immediately got up screaming in terror. Mom told me to sit back down again and I told her nope not til it was out. luckily we were pulling up to the camp my brother was staying at and was their very first patient that week and I didn't even go to camp there xD 15 mins later it was out

There are too many factors to consider when it comes to technology. What games you play, what your primary use of your computer is, how often you clean it out, laptop vs desktop, how often you keep up with drivers, etc. etc. There's a lot. I have a 6 year old laptop that can still run Overwatch 2 just fine.

Yep! I've used a few as homeopathic remedies. Breathe Well has eucalyptus and some other herbs to help open your sinuses up during head cold/allergy season. Tumeric tea to just boost your immune system. And can't go wrong with a nice mint blend for tummy troubles.
