#Proximity Voice Chat (HIGH PRIORITY)

Really? Where you can hear enemies if you are close?
not with the enemies though
Yeah local/proximity are different. To my knowledge with proximity when you use in game voice chat it will broadcast it around you. Any player in that radius will hear what you're saying.
Makes for really funny moments where you're fighting enemies in building/nearby
it all works the same, its just turned off for hearing enemies
that is how blue wanted it
i personally would like to hear enemies too
but thats his decision
they are one and the same though as far as systems are concerned
should atleast have the option to turn it on. I love the games concept but it just lacks the oomph to attract players in. I try to get my friends to play but there isn't enough incentive too.
i dont disagree, but thats not my decision. mod makers can turn this on if they want though, nothing is stopping someone from running this on their server
if thats the only reason they do or dont want to play though tahts kinda weird tbh lol
well there's a couple reasons but some are unrealistic. ie: progression system
thats another thing individual servers will have to do, we dont plan on a progression system, that isnt the type of game this is (at least from a base game perspective)
i was looking at the server rentals, how hard would it be to enable it. Are there good docs for mod development?
I would google but youd probably know lol
youd have to make it in the SDK, i wouldnt say its "easy" or "simple" by any means, but its entirely possible and ppl have already messed with various prototypes/systems
as for resources, the whole modding section down below is a good place to get started, there are some forums and pinned posts that contain good info
otherwise its litearlly just UE4.25, so most tutorials found on youtube/online are applicable
and you dont necessarily have to rent a server btw, especially if you were just doing small scale stuff and testing out various combinations of settings and mods. you can start a server on your local machine, you just have to port forward properly
Game deving is the one the spaces on my programming bucket list I want to get more into, I've already started a little with some Rust plugins where I made some small time stuff but never got too into it. Is the game just ment to be a base for servers to build on top of?
more or less ya, its a tactical shooter/milsim framework at its core, and that is the primary focus for the team. that said, we didnt want to just put that out with modding tools because it would lack a sense of direction, so we felt the need to also include a base game experience as well to serve as a demonstration of what is possible, but is by no means the end all be all experience (which i know a lot of ppl can be confused about or not aware of when they see it at face value)
but ya the idea is that every community can custom tailor the experience to their unique/individual community desires with little to no barriers as possible. that does of course require work in the SDK/mod tools, but those are free and available, the game and server files are free and available, and there are plentiful resources online so the only thing that really would hold anyone back is whether or not they want to get into it or not
as far as programming goes, the SDK uses visual scripting/blueprints, so you dont actually have to write any code, you piece it together via blocks of logic essentially
so the understanding of how code works is still relevant, its just not the same as writing it (although im pretty sure you can actually write some code and copy paste it into the editor and it will generate a blueprint but im not sure, thats beyond me)
ooh i cant wait
that sounds sweet
wait… Really? I thought it is proximity, I remember hearing reactions of enemies when taking their group close quarters
